Aaaaaan a whole bunch of nothing. Again.

Reporting Godus
(the flag icon on the store page > Fraud/Broken/Legal violation)

  • It has been 492+ and 157+ days since the last Godus and Godus Wars update.
  • We haven't heard from 22Cans since the 18. March 2016.
  • They provide no tech support.
  • The company shifted all of its resources away from Godus and Godus Wars after the main designer was let go (over 3 months ago).
  • It's very clear that the company has no intention of fulfilling their promises made. Despite all of that, the games are still being falsely advertised and sold on Steam Early Access.

In lieu of recounting history anniversaries as I am fond of doing for these efforts of Tim, I have something to offer for this and a few other topics:

I have been making a more comprehensive report guide for a number of consumer advice/advocacy/relief problems*, but specifically there is a section about the whole Crowdfrauding->Early Access/Eternal Alpha marketing scam and what to do in response to it.

In the meanwhile as that is in Early Access**, I have this to offer, since this authority has been a little itching to go after crowdfrauding in general and certain interests may make the upcoming elections rather...well, interesting times for some of those abusing "grey areas" of creative funding:

https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov

Non-US citizens may make reports because it involves fraudulent use of a US company's services as part of the scam, and that US citizens were affected, both of which are in clear purview of the FTC's investigative and regulatory efforts. Additional data will only help their duties.

Make specific mention of who were affected, what services were used, how the scam was conducted, additional acts like bait and switch that Godus Wars represents (make sure to note the early initial paywall in a product that was supposed to be "complimentary" a fix for the original's mess), along with a list of every person involved in the whole thing and what they did. Give them names.

* - Including that HeroCrate closing mess where the owners started making fraudulent credit card charges for a product that effectively no longer existed by the company's own statement and yet they were sending justification evidence to banks in response to fraud claims of account owners that those were correct charges. How it was conducted will probably land the two ringleaders into Club Fed with about four others accessory/accomplice to the act.

** - kek.

+1
The train wreck that has been this games life cycle, such as it is has been more entertaining to me than the game itself by a long shot.
I check in every week or so, seeing yet another update of no updates from Tim always makes me smile.
Thank you, stay quietly angry and unyeilding.

To be fair, if you think that this title was a wacky series of Celebrity Crowdfrauding, then you should pop over to Richard Garriott's Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues (Especially Honesty). They're now having telethons to sell their own blood for game development funds, after having apparently pissed away millions of venture capital investment to make a couple of fad-chasing browser games. It appears that paying them back was the real function of their Kickstarter...

While in better news, the rightful overfunding for Pillars of Eternity, made by those who understand what "team" means (unlike Peter Molyneux or Richard Garriott of late), has led to development of a proprietary engine able to be used in sequels for deserving titles like Planescape: Torment.
