Great game
I went out and got Windows 7 just for this game (upgraded from XP). Unfortunately, the game crashes fairly often. Any chance of adding in an actual save button, instead of having to rely on running 10 minutes all the way back to town just to crash right before I get there?

yes! because the #1 reason people buy video games is so they can do the developers jobs for them.

We are of course not expecting anyone else to handle our work and we have automated systems to handle our crash reports that will take us a long way. That being said, since we are on PC there are plenty of cases where we will need information about your hardware to be able to pinpoint specific cases.

The stability of the game will increase with the new engine update that coop brings (but as always when doing major system overhauls we are likely to see an initial dip that will be corrected to a higher level of stability than what we have now in the weeks after the release). Why one can ask? Well, it is mainly based on resources available for testing on different systems. Compared to a major developer (say Blizzard) our testing team is substantially smaller with less variety in their hardware specs. This is bound to let some cases slip through (but our aim is obviously to nail all of them prior to release).

Not an excuse but still a fact needed to take in account is that the difficulty to do QA on games in the RPG genre is greater than many other genres due to the many possible combinations of items, characters, enemies and situations. Just a complete play through takes 5 times longer than many AAA-titles and that for a game for a quarter of the price (hence more limited budget).

Sorry for the rant and thank you for your support.

I never understood why Oblivion is one of the very few games that makes an autosave upon crashing - couldn't be that hard to implement, and if that save is corrupt people will not be worse off than if no save was made in the first place?

Krater does save most things, like level up, changes in boosters and such things(regardless of where you are afaik). Though I do see the frustration some people can get when going 4 levels into a 5 level dungeon and it crashes and you have to start from the top again.
Afaik Krater at current only saves your position when you are at a friendly level, though imo it wouldn't be a big deal if they made it so it saved at the start of every dungeon level, at least that would take a lot of the frustration away from those crashing often

The updates seem to have cleared my crashing issue. This game is awesome (now that I can play for more than 20 minutes at a time)! Seriously good stuff, keep up the great work dudes!
