I think and hope that SteamMachines were to be out this year but that got pushed back to 2015 so i can see it being 2016 before we hear anything. If nothing in those 2 years then i ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ give up, ive been at the point of not really giving too much of a ♥♥♥♥ for awhile now anyway, ill get it if it were to come out next month but not in any hurry.
It is like DNF eh?
HL2 EP2 was only seven years ago... not 13.
TF2 took nine years... solid gold.
Different developers with different financial sutuations and orginization.
HL3 was never offically announced, and thus was never delayed.
Remeber these things the next time someone makes unwarrented DNF comparisons... they are bol locks.
Maybe, if we're lucky, we'll get new infos, a release date or other at least kinds of footage on the 10th anniversary.
Either way, I'd say at the latest we'll play HL3 in 2016.
Look at the money they make for Dota2 with producing very little content. 90% of the work is done by the community. Most of the profit from said items goes directly back to Valve.
The international compendium has already made $8,066,434 for the tournament. That is only 25% what people have paid. Only 25% goes to the teams. 75% goes to Valve. That is $24,199,302 so far. And there is more to come. I think it is safe to say hosting and setting up the Internationals didn't even cost Valve $5million. That basically means they pocket $20million dollars.
And that is a low ball estimate at current International prize pool. They are expected to reach $15,000,000 for the prize pool. That is $45 million for Valve - expenses.
Valve aren't making games they are making money.
They will never make as much money from another Half Life game as they do from Dota2.
