Hl2 and Hl1: From America to Russia?

As you can tell, HL1 is set in America but HL2 is strangely set in russia? why such a drastic change in location and why is it so convienient that all the black mesa team are suddenly their in russia?

City 17 is not in Russia. Well, it may be, but it may as well be anywhere else in eastern europe. And the COmbine shipped surviros around like cattle, so that half the Black Meas Survivors ended up at City 17, Breens Capital. And of course, there is our mutual friend.

Well your are spot on my friend the gman most likely played a role in all of this and yes they did ship them around so I guess it is possible.

Wait, maybe it is just a coinsidence. I mean, the Combine might have just set the capital randomly in Eastern Europe and placed Breen there. The Mesa team might have 'moved' there to be close to Breen and to command the resistance. When I say 'moved', I mean fled. When the G-man places Gordon at the beginning of the game. It is not coinsidence that you are in City 17 where the Mesa people are. Also, they mention Black Mesa East, so that might actually be a real place which existed even in Hl 1.

Did you even play the game? He opens the door with a shotgun towards the end of the game! He does that because the combine's teleporter sent them a week into the future. That is because their teleportation tech is not that far. Anyway, he is with a shotgun because he does not expect Gordon and Alyx to be there. Also the manhacks got released after the flying bot took a photo of Gordon when the he got teleporter out of the window in the beginning. Also, because the teleporter at that scene was broken, Gordon also teleported into Breen's office. That must have been a giveaway!
