I don't think Valve is truly done with Half-Life. These things... they really just take time.
Gotta do something extra special and surprising in order to get people's attention with all the new and so called 'better' non AAA titles coming out. I would prefer just another half-life game but, Valve is ambitious and always innovational.
If i remember correctly the HL/Portal film that MIGHT happen is going to be directed by J.J Abrams but i have watched most of his latest movie titles and i when i got to watching Star Trek i thought to myself "is this guy really wanting to make a HL film?" (as....you know he kindda messed up the Star Trek universe) but we'll see what happens when he does make it, i do hope he does not mess HL up as he will get a ton of crowbars flying to his head XD
HL and HL2 were technically the AAA of their time lol
>it got leaked
>they had to re-do the entire storyline
emphasis on "failed"
That's a problem with any lengthy development. For some reason, people associate long development with greatness. Which, couldn't be further from the truth.
In most cases, the game wasn't even worked on for the entirety of those development periods.
Hell, the HL2 we got was drastically different then the one Valve spent a few years working on. Same with the first HL.
Hell, DNF... the version released in 2011 actually started development in 2007. Though, people associate the entire 14 years with the released build.
HL3 doesn't need to be the "greatest game ever". It just needs to be good, fun... and fitting follow up to HL2. If it's more, great. But, on the off chance Valve do ever release it... people need to be realistic about it.
