Why is there no steam workshop?

We need a steam workshop for the mods that are availible for torchlight. It would make life so easy.

Runicgamesfansite.com (RGF for short) has a mod-manager app called Hotspot in development for TL1. But it's stalled because the devs working on it are "now you see them, now you don't" since it's all fan-based/voluntary.
If any programmer would like to help see it to completion, pls contact Webbstre the admin of RGF (he's here on Steam too).

I knwo the Runic Developers are still active with the Torchlight series as there have been rumors of an MMO based around Torchlight universe. Don't know if they actually pop on steam much. However, it shouldn't take very long to get the game updated for the Steam Workshop if there is enough interest to do it esp since they offer a Torchlight Mod Editor via the Steam Games Tool section (Designed before Workship was common place). It would probably give this game a lot more longivity, centralize the mod community a bit better, and not have people skipping it and heading to Torchlight II first. I actually find the story a bit better in Torchlight than the sequel. Did a search on the runic forum for "steam workshop" in the TL1 section - sadly it seems there arent any threads directly related to that T_T

+1 coz i need that extra slots for my stuff ive made like 12 charecters just to store the stuff and i wish there was a more element resisted class coz thats the only thing that kills me! on easy hardcore

A torchlight workshop would be cool. Mainly so the Mods would be organized and you could contact people directly through the steam community.
