The port of this game from PS2 to PC has been going on for 2 years, but for some time the developers seem to have just disappeared. Under the term "developers" you mean the russian mod team? I'd love to play this game on PC and it was a highly anticipated mod so why did they leave?

They did not leave, they are busy with their lives. They are using this petition to see if the project is really worth working on, if there are enough people for their project to be worthwhile.
