Crash when picking up devastator
Whenever I run into the devastator in the story or survival mode the second I attempt to get the weapon (it starts to auto equip) and the game crashes to the desktop.

That crash .rpt is very old . Do you perhaps have a minidump from a matching date, as the rpt is obviously not from this crash.

Also, perhaps a stab in the dark - but have you tried verify game cache?
Sorry about that, I thought it was generating the file every time it crashes but it apparently isn't. If I go into survival mode and equip the devastator it crashes but doesn't generate a file or error message. I started the campaign level Unearthing the Sun and if I attempt to skip the cut scene at the beginning of the level it crashes with the report below and an error message to contact support. If I let the cut scene play, the level is playable until I pickup health which causes it to crash without the file and error message.

I have tried verifying the game cache, it reports that all files passed verification but then downloads 12mb for Sam 3. This happens every time I verify the cache files.

Hm, this is strange. I cannot reproduce this crash, and the stack points at possible problem in the system - seems something is interacting with the process as it is crashing at a point where it cannot crash. As if something outside of it has modified it, or as if some system calls are misbehaving. Do you have some firewalls on antivirus software installed?
I did have Kaspersky Internet Security installed when that started happening and had disabled and then uninstalled it and still encountered the crashes. I thought that it could be the hard drive the game is on and I tested it and it passed. I do need to move the game to my other drive (SSD) to test that theory out completely though.

I did a clean installation of Windows 7 off the disc and only loaded sound and video drivers and the game still crashed as stated earlier. The logs from that are on pastebin, Steam didn't like them tagging along with the post.

I ran Memtest86+ for 12 hours (8 passes) and didn't have any errors. I installed the game to my other hard drive and still had the same crash when attempting to skip a cut scene at the start of Unearthing the Sun. The log files appear to be the same to me but you'll be a better judge of that then I will :) I did disable Steam Cloud so it would get a clean installation but it either still downloaded the save data or got it from the other drive so I just tried that level again.

I am out of ideas of what to do. I was hoping it would be a memory error (granted still could be, 1 test isn't perfect) or something simple. The only thing I can think of now would be a motherboard error I guess, and I'm not sure how to go about getting that checked/replaced with the hardware warranty.

I'm willing to try anything you can suggest, and hopefully I'm not wasting your time on some odd hardware issue that is causing this.
I don't think it's a hardware issue. Especially since it crashes on exact same spot, then it is most probably not faulty memory or similar. And the more I'm looking into this, it looks like it may possibly be a very rare software incompatibility that we are not correctly handling in some way. I _think_ I have some ideas on how we might mitigate this and will try to ship a workaround in the next beta. Proably in a day or two.

Btw, do you have some unusual things in the machine? Some drives that are not formatted with NTFS? Some strange junctions/mounts? I see you are installed on disk D. What kind of disks/partitions are there in the machine?
The machine is an Asus G74sx bbk7 laptop with two physical hard drives. Drive C: is the OS/boot and drive D: is just for games. Steam is installed on drive D: with the games. Both drives are have a single partition and are formatted with NTFS. Other than those 2 hard drives I have an optical drive mounted as E: and that's it.
Just wanted to let you know that I think I have a workaround for your problem implemented and ready to ship in the next publicbeta. Sorry for waiting so long.

Just letting you know that the new patch took care of the crashes. I played Unearthing the Sun and was able to skip the cut scenes and pickup health and the devastator. I also played the first level and skipped the cut scene and played survival mode and was able the equip and use the devastator. Previously all of those would have caused it to crash, but everything worked out great after the patch.

Huh, don't know how to tell you this... but the workaround I made didn't make it to you yet. The version it is in has not yet been released.
