it will take a long time to get good at it though.
you have to take strategic resources without making the ai mad and destroy there home worlds to win.
I don't usually like RTS games (despite buying and playing a lot of them) and honestly a part of that is because you only get something like 50-100 units max. These battles are thousands vs thousands. It's just insane. It's way too much fun.
Like the poster above me said, theres just so many combinations with ships and tech upgrades and... good golly. It is a bit of a learning curve but what good RTS isn't?
Also I love how it has so many options for custom games and the speed settings (not sure how/if that works in MP).
Not to mention it has some really good music for while you blow tons of stuff up.
You may find haveing a quick look at arcen games officail wiki helpfull in learning about the game. http://arcengames.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=AI_War:Fleet_Command
also here is some usefull hot key commands you may need.
(all of these should be held down when moveing units)
Also 'Alt + Right Click' on ships to bring up a menu which has some outher fancy commands that you can do.
Ontop of this if you hold down Z while you have selected a unit/hover your mouce over an Ai unit then you will be able to see a graphic representation of its range. if you hold down Z+X then you will see the range of everything within the systme.
Hope this helps
However there are two important points before you buy:
1) The graphics are pretty ancient and are 2D. This is in order to have thousands and thousands of ships into play at once.
2) The game is damn hard. Like you aren't supposed to win hard. Like 5 hours in and you think you have everything figured out and boom you find out the hard way what a CPA is.
You just made my mind up for me. I like a challenge :)
If I were only are allowed to buy three games in my life, this would take the top spot - it is that good.
Same here! so if i could only have 3 list would be
