- Country/timezone: - Time availability: - Expansions: - Dedication to a long-term game: - Certainty of ability to host game: And other aspects you find relevant to your game-finding experience.
"Dedication to a long-term game" spanning from 12 hours to 24 to 46 and beyond over multiple sessions: are you willing to commit? Many folks really want stable and reliable partners for the best AI War experience instead of those who will start a game, but will decide to drop out sooner than preferred.
"Certainty of ability to host game"; are you 100% certain someone else can connect to your AI War game, or do you need Hamachi, Tunngle, or other virtual private networks (VPN)? Keep in mind only the host needs to ensure ports have been forwarded; if those are open, then those who don't have ports open can probably join without issue. All players must use the same UDP port in their networking options menu ingame; the default is 32320. Those using a VPN in most cases will not be required to port forward, although in some instances it may still not work. You should try alternating hosts and ensuring there are no connection errors indicated by the VPN interface in such cases, and while bloaty, Tunngle seems to work for many cases where Hamachi has failed.
Please check this forum topic[www.arcengames.com] if you are wondering why the game does not have an in-game matchmaking service; it also includes more ways of finding other people to organize games.
