Help! Screen goes black

Literally JUST bought the game, fired it up, patched it up, etc. I start the tutorial and every time my clicker hovers over the starting two units (explorer drone, homebase thing) my screen goes black and I can only see the dialogue and not the planet or asteroids or even the units themselves. How do I solve this?
