Sound Problem

Hello!
I finally got Garry's mod, (YAY!) but whenever I start up the game, by the time the facepunch logo appears on screen, I hear loud popping noises looping over and over, witch is VERY annoying, I can still hear the normal in-game sounds too but with the annoying one's too. I try muting the device and it still does it. I am running Ubuntu 14.04 through crouton on my Chromebook, any help?

Turn game volume down?

Type stopsound in the in-game console. If this noise still happens, then it is probably a headphones problem. If it stops it's a game/addon problem. If it stops as soon as your press enter to input the stopsound command and continues again a few seconds later, then it's a game/addon problem.

Tried that, I even turned down system volume and still

I get the feeling it might be a system problem, im going to post this same post on the Ubuntu help form as well
