Lag and crashing

My copy of portal has a lot of lag and when i got to a certian chamber, the game crashes. Can anybody help me?

Try reinstall the game if possible if that does not work try Verifying cache files. Idk if it realy could help. But if it lags a lot than it could be something wrong with your computer.

Mine doesnt have the lag, but keeps crashing every time i go into a certain chamber also. :( shame i wanted this game, but its a good job i got the demo first as im not sure if its my pc or what, and wouldnt have a clue about verifying cache files lol

Mine does, by far, it runs great untill about an hour into it, then BOOOM... game over for me lol,

the demo actually runs better on my computer then the actually game though...
