Ha! tell that to link, he carrys a ball in chain in his bag, he can barely carry it then he just puts it in his bag POOF it disappears! he can walk normal!
Yeah I think it must be a creative move. That or they want more focus on portal use.
I think they have balanced movement speed with chamber dimensions quite well.
probably, but I found myself spamming jump to move a little faster regardless
nah, the designers intentionally did not put much detail into the environment to focus on making portals work well.
"[Nick Maggiore] Early versions of Portal featured more detailed, cluttered environments, much like Half Life 2. We quickly realized that unnecessary objects scattered all over the place distracted players to the point where it actually interfered with the portal training process. So we simplified the art style to favor clean, focused test chambers. The modular approach we settled on makes it look plausible that the chambers can reform dynamically on these pistons."
Don't step or go in front of them. Simple. :) Use your portal to eliminate it or put you behind it.I think thats why you are slow a little, to force the player to use the portals to avoid or kill turrets.
*Loads gun barrels* What the %&!@$ did you just say?!
