New portal effects? Wat?

I checked the store page for portal recently to see what the release date was for the game, but then something confused me. Several new screenshots were on the store page, next to the game trailer videos. These pictures have things like some portals with some mist like and more white new look. A normal portal that was bright yellow, and the third odd picture didn't have a portal in sight, but the light on the top of gun that glows the color of your last shot portal was a dark pink color. I'm comfused, is this some new patch or addon? If so, i kinda want it. How can i get it?

Think those were the old graphics for the demos and such for alpha. It even kind of looks like it was on a different engine from those pictures. Portal 1 is a pretty old game, If anything they would instead be working on Portal: Episode 1, Portal: Episode 2, and Portal 4.

How come they weren't there before? Or were they there before and i'm just stupid? :/

Nah, it was probably just in demo builds. Kind of like a cinematic trailer.

I noticed the same thing. Maybe it's a higher graphics level? Also, the reticle (crosshair) looks different, too.
