*NEED SUPPORT ON PORTAL FILES. PLEASE HELP*

So recently I have been downloading Bonus Map Packs for Portal 1 and they've all been working fine. What I've downloaded so far is conundrum, a portal to success, Portal TFV Mappack, some Portal 2 map by Skinnycap (I think) and a few others. All of sudden I open up Portal and all my chapters' pictures have been replaced by Half-Life 2 chapter pics. The chapters wouldn't load either. So I had Steam validate my game cache and it made the levels work again, but the pictures didn't reset. Now whenever, GLaDOS is supposed to say something, nothing happens. In the Flash Version Mappack, GLaDOS also never comes on, the portal never comes out giving me the portal device, and the door doesn't open. I tried verifying the game cache integrity again, but it said the files all validated correctly. I tried un-installing and re-installing but the problems remained. I even had my friend copy and email a few portal folders that I thought might contain the problems and replacing his folders with mine, but still the issues continue. Any thoughts on how I can fix this? What I'm thinking of trying next is to have him email me the entire Steam\SteamApps\common\Portal folder. Do you think that'll work? Please respond.
