Can someone help me with the textures

I played Portal a long time ago and loved it. But recently I got back on and noticed something wrong. The textures for the portals are complete crap! I looked up if anyone else had this problem, and it has something to do with Steam Pipeline, I think. I have tried numerous things to try to fix it, but none have succeded. Can someone please help me? Portal is my 2nd favorite game, the 1st being Portal 2, and if I can't experience it the way I did before, it feels... Unfulfilling. Yes, tha's the word. It's unfulfilling to my nostalgia. Any help will be appreciated. Thank You.

Most common fixes are adding "-dxlevel 90" or "+mat_level 92" to your startup options to force the game back into directx9. Once it is back into directx9, take out the startup option that you added or else the game will keep resetting back to default in-game video options.

YES! It works! THANK YOU SO MUCH! YAY! I feel so stupid, too! I put it to "-dxlevel90" instead of "-dxlevel 90"! I forgot the 'Space'! *Facepalm* Thanks again!
