HELP ME! SOMEONE PLEASE! Screen is cut off, idk what else to do

So, I opened my game for the first time after buying it today, and the menu screen is waaaay off to the left, I really can't see anything. I've tried changing the resolution, and I've even tried changing the compatibility on the hl2 file. <- Every time I try that, however, it just goes back to what I had just changed it from. Help... me... I wanna play so bad

Either your native res isnt supported or youre ded.

I can move my arrows up and down and click enter to choose things, but I can't see the whole screen, it's way over to the left

Try verifying the game cache files.

Try resetting configuration to default:
Right click the game icon, select Properties, and then Set Launch Options.
In the box, type -autoconfig

Other launch options to try:
-window (start in windowed mode)
-w 1024 -h 768 (choose resolution width and height)
