the story makes no sense

i just started the game and i just got done with the cave under the dark forest when you need to "awaken" your powers. After that it time jumped and told me that Ivy is dead... What the heck man!

The cutscene is a weird jump though too. You kill that beetle and then the cutscene starts by the cave exploding and you're suddenly looking over your village? It makes no sense.
