Make an Assassin rogue then you get the ability to do stealth and such, also try a bard rogue with lots of music abilitys and also try tactician(becasue these get the flame throwers with no targeting required)
Most fo the other classes seam to all play the same....not exactly sure why.
I played a bit of rift when it was first released, was fun enough. Thought id give it another go as i needed an mmo itch scratched and then i see this.
That to me doesnt look like fun but its the way the genre has gone. Hit 4 buttons and get showered with loot. Or when you hit max level hit those 4 buttons for a month and get showered with loot. Not a moan at rift just a general moan at the genre, but that post sums up a lot of what i dont like about mmo's anymore.
While im having a whine about mmo's ill do this one:)
How do you learn to be a group support class when everyone can melt mobs in seconds?, with very little need to group to do it.(tried instant adventure as a healer and was completly uneeded). I only got to level 20 this attempt but if i ever got round to the higher end content how would i know what works and when?
read forums? read guides?. Ugh no thanks, i learn by doing not by following a you tube video.
Join a guild and have someone mentor down? ( or whatever its called in rift). So despite the good intentions of helping ,they blast through a dungeon they have done a hundred times and melt all the mobs in seconds. Again,Not helpfull.
I played eq2 for a while.I prefer being a healer. got to mid 60's without finding any group content apart from the aforementioned dungeon melting mentored people. Actually had to heal a guild group one time and guess what? failed miserably and was whined at. No ♥♥♥♥ i cant heal ,i dont get the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ chance so how would i know how to :P?
Best bet with mmo's nowdays seemes to be get in early when everyone is learning and doesnt have great gear etc. At least people have more need of help to get towards the later stages of the game so you get to practice before you get there.
Always wow and the dungeon finder i suppose. But even then most of the levelling done there is a faceroll. Only ever gets fun if the tank or the healer dies or someone pulls craploads of mobs. Then omg you have to play your character to survive!
Thats my mmo moan over with.♥♥♥♥♥ at me or not. I am getting older so im allowed to be a curmudgeon!
No I agree with you. But you're talking about lower levels which is what happens. Level 1-30 on RIFT is more of a 'tutorial' a learning point, a 'learn your class'. I use macro's to make dungeons, pvp, raids easier for me to handle which is why they're there. I'd rather have a macro set up that can cause the same amount of damage in one button press instead of 8. I have too many abilities for my hands to handle and I'd rather avoid RSI (repetitive strain injury). At level 60 you can make the game as complicated as you want with your abilities. A healer is definitely needed and so is a support in 40+ to 60 dungeons. World of Warcraft is exactly the same when it comes to low level dungeons, tank can tank anything without desperately needing heals.
This all being said, RIFT is either for you or it isn't. I stuck with it and so far I'm glad I have because I've enjoyed every minute of it and I'm still no where near end game.
Moan all you want mate, I know how you feel. You just need to level up a lot more than 20 to experience what RIFT has to offer. Okay I am near end game I guess since I'm level 59 but I've still got to get gear and everything to be able to enjoy PvP at it's fullest(?)
but all in all .. i call it wow for grown ups |!
i had all i mean and say all mmos that are out there !
and that are many im 58 now and just returned after burned out on GW2 and Tera feeling cozy and warm again in my beloved hated RIFT ....
there is the freedom that you can be as much you can bear too much sometimes as fits into a normal lifetime lol but on the other hand it is satisfying if your chains work the first time correctly as planned ! Hell Yeah DIG IT!
This. I played Tera and it just didn't feel right. Played WoW during Vanilla and around cata and it was pretty good. Rift just takes the best from all these MMOs and puts them together in a neat free package. You don't have to pay a penny to play the game. You can even get cash shop items for in game money by purchasing rex off another player. The game is easily the best MMO out right now. ESO and Wildstar just aren't good enough to beat it.
But both games cannot hold what they promissed or live up to Rift especially after 2.7.
while the beta showed me that you cant make a skyrim online good enough that all are happy with or pleased i admit TESO came close to it but just close. The best was the implementation of Malukah as singer( 3 hearts as one) you find it in a tavern in a mayor city.
Wildstar is to colorful and tries to joke about everything and has a toooooooooo long intro i almost died waiting to play it uncontroled and untunnelled sigh.
well here i had the wow Deja Vue sometimes....Conclusion Rift FOREVER!
