I gave this answer to a similar question on NeoGAF:

"Sort of. Releasing a game in the chinese market means that you need to send it to the Chinese Government for approvals and that always takes forever (remember that the original Ori release was also delayed for China for the exact same reason)... So we're still talking to MS about adding Chinese support.

I can't really say anything definitive about that yet, but we're definitely hearing all the Chinese fans that are a little soured. I love that we had so many languages in the original game, so we're definitely trying to get that back in :)"

Thank you for reply.
But the games on steam don't need to send to goverment for checking, a lot of games have traditional or simplified Chinese and they even not enter the chinese market, we just buy them on steam. I konw it's the responsibility of MS, but we are so sad about the languages issue.

There will be approval procedures if they release the game on consoles in China. Did a little Googling and Ori seems to be the case.

Hopefully Microsoft will set things straight. AFAIK they tend to machine translating and post editing everything *ahem* budget-cuts *ahem*, which easily cause issues sometime, especially when Chinese is a language distinctively different from English.

PC is different from consoles.

Most PC gamer like me go full digital, and never buy disk game from reseller for years. Releasing your game on Steam has nothing related to Chinese goverment. Steam is a digital dstribution service. Valve is a US company. And you don't have to sell physical copy of Ori in China. It's not about releasing a game in Chinese market, it's about adding a languague support for a Steam game.

I'm currently living in China, and playing a lot of indie games and top AAA games on Steam, GoG, Battle.net...and even a illegal copy with torrent downloading. There is not such a thing called Chinese market in PC gaming world, PC market is based on the Internet digital dstribution, it's a borderless market.

And I also don't remember you guys or MS have a talk about a plan of physical PC version Ori game. Unless you guys stupidly considering about delay the language support on Steam till the day Xbox One Ori:DE release in China. That's completely piss off PC users in China. If that happens, I will no longger buy any game published by MS.

I'll further explain my previous reply, hope this helps:

You can still buy Xbox One day one console today in China.
Xbox One is a complete joke.

其中Don't Starve, Dark Souls 3, 侠客风云传, CS:GO 都有简中。
