What Mods to recommend
Hey guys!

Just as the title suggests, which in game mods would you guys recommend? just got the game. Curious on which mods fix things and add gameplay value.

Thanks!

These are the mods I would miss the most if they disappeared today:

- Cover the line - Select your units and then click-drag a line and your units will position themselves on that line.. Allows you to present a wall of firepower to the enemy instead of just a blob of units. Used appropriately, you can defend against attacking forces that are larger than yours

- Infinite build - Your factories will automatically loop though your build queue continuously instead of having to use the UI to manually set each factory.

- Hot Build 2 - allow you to assigned hotkeys for unit selection or action selection. Basic hot key assignment is available in the stock game but HB2 offers advantages to configuring your setup including drag and drop key assignment and assigning multiple units to the same key. For instance, I have all tier 1 and tier 2 turrets assigned to the same key, in order of most to least powerful. When I select a fabber(s) I then click the turret key and it saves me from moving my mouse to the UI to find and select the turret I want. Each time I click the key it cycles through the turret selection in the order that I placed them. I also have a key for T1 factories and a key for T2 factories. Great time saver and you keep your eye on the planet instead of looking at the UI.

You can also export/import game profiles with HB2

Visually, I like Bigger Explosions, More Pew Pew and No Atmosphere.

And there are a huge amount of great maps in the various Map Packs

I find that 90% of maps are something stupid, like e.g. a two-planet system where one planet is smashable.

Plus most of them are small and ugly and symmetrical. Many of them also seem to exist solely to use some gimmick: i.e. a cubic "planet", or a tiny landing zone that you have to search with the mouse for five minutes to find.

Essentially, the design of the maps reflects the fact that most of the people who get so much into the game as to make them are autistic.

I used to have ALL the map packs enabled, and I can't tell you how many games I ruined by picking a map from there at random, until I finally uninstalled all of them, and started making my own maps.

I got banned from the Community Discord for posting a milder version of the above opinion, btw, so make sure you don't say anything like that to their faces if you don't want to meet the same fate.

Map packs

Map packs are collections of maps that you can pick from if you host a game

AndreasG 1v1
Exodus Esports Tournament mappack (useful/required for tournaments)
WPMarshall's map pack
Alpha2546 Map Pack
Pwn4Two's Map Pack

Very important mods

Infinite build - Sets all of your factories to continuous build mode by default
Hotbuild2 - Adds hotkeys for building structures and units.

Less important mods that you can live without

Cover the line - You can make units go into a custom formation
More Pew Pew - Improves projectile visibility
Soft Landing - Removes most of the dust from the com landing so that you can start your build quicker.
Favorite color - Because you need to have your favorite color in lobbies.
combat fabricator group deselect - Stops you from selecting stitches with your army
Eco manager - Turn off all factories/fabbers at once with a convenient button
Mines as strips - Lets you build mines in lines instead of circles.
