Game choppy and occasionally crashes

Psychonauts has been a pretty good game, but it's been often gone into a black screen in and out, making it choppy, and occasionaly leads to a crash. The worst that's happened is were the graphics completely messed up and objects rapidly disapeared and reapeared with the background copying multiple versions of itself. Anyway to fix this? I've updated my video driver.

I've fixed the problem by going into the files and running the .exe for psychonauts in windows compatability mode. After that, it ran much smoother.
