Black screen
When using virtual desktop. (running it from the Occulus home) i get nothing but a black screen and a mouse. I can change the amount of monitors and the black screen changes to accommodate that (currently three monitors). They are all plugged into the same video card. Most up to date drivers (Nvidia GTX 980) but getting nothing.

Any suggestions?

I did notice that 'im getting an error that shows up behind everything else. Stating it could not find a supported format. I've sent a couple of error reports so there's that.

Well guess what! The newest update i'm back to a black screen again.

Only thing that has changed that could mess with it was set the background to rotate some pictures. I turned that off and nope (though thinking about it now, i did update my video drivers Nvidia 980).

Any suggestions or needingng more info?

Hey, highjinx. I have the same laptop and am considering getting a graphics amplifier as well. What I understand from this is that a separate monitor is required to run virtual desktop and you plug that into the external gpu along with the hmd. Is that right? Is your monitor cable hdmi, USB or pin vga? [/quote]

Hi Alviise, I am not sure if you have to plug in a monitor or not to make this work. I will try that in the next couple days and update. My monitor is plugged in via HDMI. I also figured out I do not have to disable the laptops display only make the monitor's display the main display. You will probably need a monitor now that I think about it. So by plugging in the monitor to the graphics card and making it the main display I am forcing the graphics card to render. If there is another way to force the graphics card to render instead of the onboard gpu (Not the GTX980m) that could fix it. Maybe there is a way to do this. I would recommend buying a monitor. You could just go buy a cheap used one. I don't think it matters how it is connected to the graphics amplifier it just has to be connected and forced to be the main display.

Okay, a restart fixed the main issue but there's a new one.

Now when i open the app within Occulus Home, and i try to re-orient it it goes black after that.

Had the black screen problem.Have a Laptopn with a 970m. My workaround was, that i went into the nvidia control panel in the "Manage 3D settings" in the tab "program settings" I added virtual desktop.exe and under point 2. i select the nvidia processer. after i changed that it works for me. Cheers

Capture rate is variable depending on the amount of changes on screen. It's perfectly normal that it dips. Don't worry about it.

Hi Grendizer....can I ask what you mean by the above comment? I was able to add Virtual Desktop to the Nvidia Control panel in the "Manage 3D Settings" section, but I'm not sure what you mean by "Under Point 2" Where is this "Point 2" you're referring to?

Point 2 should be the following, if you are on a laptop with a onboard AND single graphic card:

"Select the prefered graphics processor for this program:
Use global setting (auto-select: Integrated
High-performance NVIDIA processor
Integrated graphics"

If you have only a onboard GPU or like me on my desktop computer a single graphic card, point 2. will be something different. For me on my desktop it is:

"Specify the settings for this program:"

Hope this helps
