"Thunder Tier One" is a top-down tactics-like shooter (without the grid). You have a group of four soldiers that level up and can be geared as you see fit. It has cooperative gameplay, should you so choose. There used to be an online aspect too but the developers have abandoned the projects and without it's multiplayer. The story is pretty bare bones but there's are some great visual elements to help engross you in the world.

There's a lot of great things here. While the gameplay is a bit rogue-like in that you can die from the first bullet shot in your general direction, so too do the enemies. The equipment ends up being pretty overpowered in comparison to going somewhat lightly armed & armored. The teamwork operates okay -- they generally just follow you around in a small group -- the AI is functional but unsophisticated. Overall, this could likely be pretty fun with a group of friends but otherwise does not bring much new to the table in terms of the genre.

At this point, the devs have abandoned the project and with them the dedicated servers. With the servers have gone the player base. There's also no mod support to allow workarounds. I'd say it might be worth it if you can get it on sale though.
