What I find really stupid is the setting. I don't get why they didn't let it play on earth. This other planet really hurts the atmosphere a big deal.
One thing I really like about this one compared to the new X-Com: You can Aim wherever you want!
Ignore the metacritic score, it's simply wrong as it's based on the non-Gold (therefore non-patched and unmodded) edition. ET Gold includes many a patch and mod that cleans up the fairly dodgy release version. It's a lot more like the classics of olde than the XCom EU reboot is imo.
Only potentially big downside is like Ail and Klas say; it's not set on Earth.

Edit: The Mod-Page says it is. So installing it now. Thanks for the hint! :)
Steps 1-3 seemed to somewhat worked. For step 4 it said that it cannot find a specific file.
When I then wanted to try it out, steam complained that it has to something with the game aswell and obviously partly reinstalled it.
When I then started it, all my previously made settings to the BMan Mod as well as my savegame were gone.
Planet was still Esperanza, not Earth.
I agree, this game is closer to the original xcom than the new xcom that just came out. Not that I don't like the new one.. I do have 88 hours invested in it.
Cheers.

When the installers ask about select the directory select something like this:
X:\Steam\SteamApps\common\UFO Extraterrestrials Gold (X letter of HD).
Cheers.
Since my saves are gone anyways, I might do a clean reinstall and try it again.
