Windows 10... CTD
Anyone else tried the game in Windows 10? Just tried loading it and I get a CTD usually before I get the main menu or shortly after I try to start a new game..

I have so far: deleted the config file and let it recreate it, reinstalled DX files from the AAW directory as well as vs2010/12 drivers, turned off my second monitor and exited SLI mode.

I am in ADMIN and have tried different res settings on my system, yes all drivers are current.. only difference is this machine is now on Windows 10.

Only thing I have not done on this system is revert back to windows 7.

Note: I just tested all the other titles, Angle of Attack, Galactic Command etc.. they too all CTD now.. The ONLY title that seems to be holding is UCCE/Lyrian

Suggestions (other than that)?

Try re-installing DirectX, VS2010, VS2013[3000ad.com] and let me know how it goes

Hey Derek!

Stepped through updating all of them again to be sure, rebooted and attempted to run after each and still same result...

No dialog then the standard CTD dialog that pops up. This is true for GalCom and Angle of Attack as well...

One other note.. I still have my gaming laptop running under Windows 7. It works perfectly, no issues with any of the titles at all.

My other high end laptop I updated previously, usually do not use it for gaming but decided to see if this occurred on that one as well since it too is now running Windows 10 and I get the same results as on my primary machine.. CTD for all the titles..

Did you try Windows 7 compat mode?

Yep, tried WinXP as well while doing so... The wierd thing is most of the time it CTD's before getting to the menu... but every 10th load or so it does make it to the menu... from there it seems ok until you try to start a game and somewhere during the load process (while the progress bar is usually moving), it dumps...

I will have to look into that at some point. If it's crashing even in WINXP or WIN7 compatability mode, then your machine is definitely missing some components.

Has to be something that the Windows 10 upgrade changed or removed... Like you, off the top I am at a loss on this one.. tried every trick I can think of to get them running.. the strange thing is that UCCE (and DLC) runs fine but none of the others do.

Anyone else having trouble running AAW or AOA under Windows 10?

One added note.. I also checked folder permissions as well to insure that was not the problem... Going to play LoD here shortly and if anything comes up will post over there for you...

Works fine for me. I haven't done anything special, either.

Yeah, it sounds like either DirectX or the VStudio runtimes required by the games are not installed.

VS 2012 as well as all updates and VS upgrades are installed. All older and updates DX files are installed. Every other titles on my systems all run as does UCCE/Lyrian. Only those three titles CTD. Have not tried LOD yet as was waiting for resolution with this...

There is nothing for me to fix. I tested it with all my games and they work just fine. There is nothing in W10 that will break games; other than the correct DX and VS runtimes not being installed. It's not that much different from WIN8.

You need the latest DX runtime (which includes the June 2010 update) as well as VS2010

Will try to uninstall them all and re-install clean and see what happens...

Ok an update... Formatted a new drive, clean install Windows 10. Allowed it to update, installed latest drivers for NVideo cards. Both in SLI, 3 monitor system. i7-3770s, 16gig ram, 10,000 rpm main drive, 7.1 surround, Strike 7 Keybaord, Anker mouse, Saitek X52 Pro HOTAS, Asus UHD 4k 3000+ res monitor.

Reinstalled steam, clean, reinstalled all three titles I have been mentioning.. have not reinstalled UCCE or LoD yet but will do so although it ran before so I assume it will run again.

Tried all three of the others, Angle of Attack, Galcom and echo... all three CTD AFTER video plays and about 10 seconds into loading.

And yes, I had it install all prereqs clean from the game itself as I assume those included with the game are the correct version. I then installed the latest you listed above to be sure also.

Something inherent to the three titles and Windows 10 not getting along... Do not get any errors or anomalies, just CTD requester..

You didn't mention installing DirectX, VS2010, VS2012 etc
