Console Classics Update
Hi all!

Thanks so much for trying out N2O! We’re really excited with our first release of a classic game on Steam, and are hoping to make many more forgotten classics available on PC soon. We’ve received a lot of kind words as well as constructive feedback on this first release, so we wanted to update you on our progress.

In an upcoming patch [later today] we will have fixed certain fullscreen resolution issues as well as issues some users reported with saving their resolution changes. We also got notified our game did not include the appropriate GPL license information, which got lost in the transition from our own custom installer to the SteamPipe installer, which we will rectify in the upcoming patch.

If you have any questions, issues, feedback or just want to say hi, contact us through our site here: http://www.consoleclassics.co/?page_id=313 :)

We really appreciate all your interest and hope you will enjoy playing these vintage classics with us!

Best regards,

The Console Classics Team

When will Tatsunoko Fight be released?

Also, will you guys get the rights to re-release the Philips CD-I Lucky Luke game?

Good to know it was just an oversight :)

Why doesn't N2O support high resolution rendering? The resolution options just cause the game to be upscaled, not re-rendered. The entire point of emulating PSX games is so that you DON'T have to play them in native 320x240.

What is next on the schedule? Ten Pin Alley? D? Koudelka? Anything unexpected that will even get overwhelmingly positive reviews?

The entire point is preservation.

Also considering the limitations of the PSX, a "HD" PSX is not going to look considerably better. You would have to put up with the worst vertex precision in 32-bit console history that no graphics plugin or postprocessing cruftpack (enb/reshade etc) will ever compensate.

Hey,

Thanks for clearing up the whole issue about your gpl licensing, I think a lot of us were suspicious of what we were buying. That was my only real concern and I'd be glad to purchase more playstation classics in future. This seems like a really neat way of legitimately playing some games which never wound up on PC, so I'm excited to see what next.

I just have one question though, it's about licensing in general, for example N20 was originally a Fox interactive game from what i remember, it was also developed by Gremlin Graphics. Taking a look at your website you have quite a few games from Gremlin (Actua Series, Loaded) but on the other hand there's a some stuff from Infrogrames and Interplay, so I'm wondering...who did you have to contact in order to get permission to sell these games? I'm guessing that the common element with all of these publishers is that most of them are defunct...but I'm unsure how Console Classics is able to sell them? Do you have an arrangement with the remaining owners of these properties? do you split your revenue with them?

I don't want to pry, it's just I'm really interested in this, because I can't recall ever seeing anything like it before.

Anyway, this seems like a great idea, and welcome to Steam.

Sorry, but this does look significantly better than the Steam version to me. (Even with youtube compression + stretched widescreen)

And have any of those companies sold the rights to games listed on Console Classics site? Looking at those company websites...they don't really seem that active, from what I remember Atari is very very small company nowadays, Gremlin seems to be a mobile developer and Interplay site makes it seem as if Interplay solely re-releases old games (which would make sense that they gave permission to Console Classics)

Atari (aka Infogrames) sold the Gremlin library to Urbanscan.

Hey Console Classics, since you're bringing Koudelka, you should try getting the rights of the Shadow Hearts trilogy. Or are PSX games only for the time being?

Can we get D-pad support for Xbox controllers?
Only being able to use the joystick is disheartening.

I second this
