thats pretty standard, tormunda.. its a lot easier for them to get maintence info out via twitter to a much larger audience.

and its not exactly 'hunting' its literally the first thing on the feed https://twitter.com/BethesdaSupport

same error on my account. it says that it is a problem on my network connection but i can access everything else. maybe they were blocked by some ISPs.

theres no error mekryxe.. if you had bothered to check the link, the servers are down for a planned update, they havent announced when it comes back up yet

i only saw the link after the comment. anyway, they left a wrong message blaming our network.

i'd expect them to have the resources to at least post on steam as well. if i try to play a steam game and it won't work, steam game hub is the first place i come to search for info.

better yet, give the info about update & servers down also on the error screen when trying to launch the game (mtg/stainless actually managed to do that)

Haha good catch there. Tis why I have that Twitter acct, for things space, sci-fi and games. I just noticed a maintenance notice on the launcher now. Early it was only error. Will follow them to get info then. (It probably is the best place or their official forum.) My ES acct is not through Steam and I usually look at their official forum, so I should have thought of that for this, doh!

Earlier it did display only an error code. I went all about checking my network too. :P Now it shows maintenance message, but didn't at first.

Lots of companies don't post these kinds of updates on Steam, especially when they have their own media outlets (Twitter, official forums, etc). More permanent updates yes, but not "We're patching for the next few hours" kinds of things, usually. Steam is not the center of the gaming universe (yet, anyways).

I'm still experiencing the outage, as it seems my game won't update. Would you just consider contacting support or am I missing something simple? I tried restarting my Steam a few times and opening the game and it consistently gives me the same error you were having.

Try launching it through the standalone launcher from Bethnet and see if it persists.
