Divergence: Beyond the Singularity is an adult visual novel that immerses players in a futuristic sci-fi world where artificial general intelligence is a reality, and androids coexist with humans. Drawing heavy inspiration from Detroit: Become Human, the game blends a “complex” narrative, player-driven choices, (which dictate significant aspects of the story, such as whether an android becomes divergent) and mature themes. However, the game's execution is mixed, with strengths in its ambition, like try to cover different routes with multiple possibilities but notable flaws, such as the simplicity of the sexual content by not having animations or the lack of “standard” functions of a visual novel such as the gallery, skip text option, among others.

Set in a near-futuristic world circa 2047 (with the first "smart brain" developed in 2035), Divergence explores the integration of humanoid androids into human society. The story follows characters such as Ryan and Eve as they navigate a world where the boundaries between human and machine are blurred. The game tackles themes of self-consciousness, identity, and relationships.
The game is divided into three stories that begin with their own plots. In the middle of the game, the protagonists of these plots collide with each other. Each story features an android as the protagonist or co-protagonist. In the first story, an android begins to experience "failures" in its system, which corrupt its thoughts and memories. Additionally, this android begins to experience human emotions such as jealousy, worry, and love. These emotions prompt it to investigate the cause of these changes. It talks to its owner, researches online, and has intimate experiences with other androids.
The second story's protagonist is an android detective who spends his time doing forensic tests. He is seen more as a tool than a thinking being. This changes when his human partner experiments with him sexually, noticing how well "equipped" the robot is. They begin a "sex friends" relationship while continuing to investigate crimes.
The third story's protagonist is an android that serves as a secretary to a MILF. This story deals with themes of dependence, lesbianism, and corruption.
These stories develop in parallel, taking turns in each chapter until the protagonists interact and combine all the plots.
It is important to note that each "mini-story" involves decision-making that has narrative weight and can result in different routes, where relationships change, and, of course, the availability of certain sex scenes.

Since the game is a visual novel, gameplay is almost entirely limited to making decisions. There are also some mini-games, mainly in the Android Detective Story, where you must find clues and make guesses by investigating items on the screen, memorizing dates, performing QTEs, and so on. All of these mini-games are optional since you can see clues on how to solve them or go back in time to select another option in case you make a mistake. Therefore, if you are not a fan of these "immersive" mini-games, you can still enjoy the game.

This game has a decent number of sex scenes, with over 20. However, the vast majority of these scenes are still images with only a few ones scenes with some simple animations .
Overall, the scenes are reasonably well-made, showcasing strengths like high-quality renders, a diverse range of girls/androids, and erotic poses. However, there are also drawbacks, such as the absence of animations I previously noted, the lack of voice acting, and the absence of lewd sound effects.
The content/fetishes in the scenes tend to be vanilla, with scenes of oral sex, vaginal sex, cunnilingus, handjobs, and boob jobs. The only highlights are some lesbian scenes and threesomes. Overall, the content is quite light and can be enjoyed by all players.
An important point to note is that the game does not have a gallery of scenes, so you will need to save specific manuals if you want to view a scene again.

Divergence: Beyond the Singularity is an ambitious adult visual novel with a compelling sci-fi premise, strong visuals, and a choice-driven narrative, though unfortunately this one only has a strong start that quickly declines in quality as you go along. Still, this is a common problem in AVNs where they focus more on the sexual content than the narrative, so it's not a big problem.
What does seem to me to be detrimental in terms of quality, are its technical shortcomings that I already mentioned such as the text skipping options, saving in the cloud, the lack of gallery, sound effects and animations. Since without a doubt all this lack makes this game more "simplistic" if you compare it with other AVN that cost the same and ends up losing in the purchase.
So in short, Divergence: Beyond the Singularity is not a bad game as it is entertaining and has decent content for you to do your nightly manual labor, but I would only recommend buying it if you find it on sale and you like the whole science fiction theme or if you have fetishes with fυcking androids.
