Vive Pre Controllers - Won't Connect, (SOLVED!)
BCM2045A0 drivers cannot be found, because of this my controllers can't connect. They only work if I connect them via USB. Any ideas?

Ok after looking around seems like this is a known issue but I see no mention of the controller problem.

Also to added, the controllers hooked up via USB dont work fully, the trigger button doesn't register

Same issue, only none of my controller buttons work via USB, and they won't even buzz when I click 'Identify Controller'.

Have you tried going through these troubleshooting instructions? https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8566-SDZC-9326#controllers

Yes, did all the recommended steps. The controllers are showing as connected, white led solid, but they wont detect when I try to manually repair them using the software. They auto pair and go from blinking blue to white.

Yes, actually same issue, no buzz and none of the buttons are working. Did you get a firmware update when you had them connected? Just asking because I notice alot of people mentioning that but I never saw one for my device.

Got it to work finally... Here is what I did

Make sure you uninstall steam vr, reinstall from the latest beta.

Run steam as Admin

Turn OFF the controller before you run steam vr for the first time.

Once launched go to pairing. Once pairing starts turn on one controller using the system and menu button. When it blinks blue release.

It should now pair the device. CLICK DONE dont try the sync the 2nd one yet.

After a few moments you will see Update available and the device listed. Go ahead and update.

Repeat these steps for controller two.

Hope this helps someone else

Thanks for the guide. I got the update prompt earlier today and updated both controllers. Reinstalling SteamVR does not resolve the issue for me. Both controllers wont track when wireless, only when plugged in with USB.

I'm wondering if anyone else is stuck with this problem?

Try this:

Close SteamVR. Open lighthouse_console.exe (in tools/lighthouse/bin/win32/) and run the "unpairall" command. Then exit the console, start SteamVR, and try to pair again.

What solved it for me was putting the USB (for the link box) in a USB 2 port. If I go back to a USB 3 port the controllers will not track wirelessly.
I have tried everything mentioned here to no avail. The only thing that works is directly plugging the controllers in so I have about a 6' lead from my tower. Ugg.

HOWEVER, some history. I had this Vive set up on another machine first that I thought was 64bit. I was wrong, got through the whole set up process, and then realized I couldn't run a lot of the software.

The controllers paired correctly and the SteamVR client would show ready with that set up. I have since reinstalled that machine with win 10 64bit and everything else is working except for the controllers when untethered. They simply won't pair at all. Every tenth try or so the utility will say it's paired, but not show them as paired nor will it work in the headset.

I have used the Unplug > Remove all SteamVR USB Devices > replug and let it process method. Nothing.
I have used the lighthouse_console.exe > unpairall method. Nothing.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled SteamVR. Nothing.
I have tried every permutation of using and not using the above. Nothing.

There has to be something else here I'm missing.
I've also tried plugging the base station into different USB ports. It will look like it's reinstalling devices, but I still can't pair afterward.
This morning I tested again with a full charge on the controllers just to rule that out. Same result.

Any chance you have Asus AI Suite installed? A user on Reddit figured out that uninstalling it fixed similar issues for them. See this thread.

It's Asus AI Suite. At least it was for me. Worked fine last night on new build. Tonight I installed all the Asus Suite of products that came with the motherboard. Then afterwards, only one controller would connect. The other would only connect if plugged into the USB the whole time. Uninstalled AI Suite, and all fixed. Both controllers working again.
