is any form of mod support planned?

like such as modable unit models/campaign maps like would we be able to turn the game into another era if we could? the recent lack of mod support from CA is killing total war for me

Yes, we're very keen to support modders, and look forward to seeing what they can do with the engine. One thing modders and scenario designers will enjoy is the map editor, which makes making attractive maps far easier than with TW games. It may takes us a little time to put all the pieces in place, but eventually we will be supporting total conversion mods too.
