Music Fix
If your Tie Fighter stopped playing music during missions recently, like mine did, here's a fix:

1. Go to the game directory (......\Steam\steamapps\common\STAR WARS Tie Fighter\remastered) and rename winmm.dll to win32.dll
2. Open Tie95.exe with a hex editor (I'm using Hex Editor MX), do a text search for WINMM.dll and replace it with WIN32.dll. Don't forget to save the file when you close the editor.

That's it.

EDIT: This should fix the issue with the music stopping/not looping after a while:

Download https://www.vogons.org/download/file.php?id=27848 and extract everything to the game folder. Then rename winmm_nomciclose.dll to win32.dll.

it works, but it isnt the original game music i remebered. The music was changing every time a new action took place. if a rebel craft entered combat, the rebel theme was played, or if u succesful achieved a mission goal, a victory theme was played and so on

Only the older Dos versions have that.

Now that it's been bumped, thank you very much for your many help threads/posts that I've read in the past few days, Teleguy.

If you want the original remastered music http://www.savingcontent.com/2014/08/09/guide-play-x-wing-tie-fighter-series-on-windows-7-windows-8-windows-8-1-with-an-xbox-xb1-playstation-ps4-controller-flight-stick/7/

However, I am running the GOG version and the in flight music disappears completely.

Hi everybody!
At the moment after the last actualization of the Windows 10 the Tie Fighter as the Xwing there is no music in-flight.
I've installed severals version of the file winmm.dll in the folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\STAR WARS Tie Fighter\remastered
But it didn't work.
I've also modify the file winmm.dll inside the folder:
C:\Windows\SysWOW64 (after get rid out TrustInstaller which is a pain in the arse)
But I modify this file then the game doesn't start.
Therefore, I'm wondering if it happens also to you? In this case how did you fix it? Where and what I have to modify and in which folders in order to have the music working in the last version of Windows 10.
Thanks a lot!

This fix still works. Unfortunately Steam insists on updating the game on launch, restoring the original files.
So, after applying the fix, either deny the Steam Client Service permission when it asks for it or open installScript.vdf (located in ....Steam\steamapps\common\STAR WARS Tie Fighter\) with notepad, delete everything inside and save it.

I've also modify the file winmm.dll inside the folder:
C:\Windows\SysWOW64 (after get rid out TrustInstaller which is a pain in the♥♥♥♥♥♥
But I modify this file then the game doesn't start.

The winmm.dll inside the game folder is just a stub that redirects back to the Windows winmm.dll file, so it can't work without it.
