Attention clueless idiots.
DO NOT take an important role in the game if you don't plan on playing your role, or if you do not know how to play that role. I am sick of people taking the commander role and losing the game for their team because they do nothing, not even communicate. When asked repeatedly to switch by their team members they ignore those requests. This is not Call of Duty, you do not pick a class for the weapons, you pick a class to play that class. If you're a machine gunner, your job is to sit back and suppress the enemy, to either cover the advance or stop attackers. If you're a sniper your job is to hide and pick off priority targets. If you're an assault soldier your job is to get in close, clear areas and take objectives. If you're a squad leader your job is to use smoke, mark targets, take objectives and act as a spawn point. If you're a commander your job is to talk to your team (preferably with a mic), to call in good arty, to force respawn, to use smoke and to call in recon, sit by the radio and inform your team of enemy movements.

If you don't plan on doing any of that, then be a freaking rifleman. Winning and losing depends on people playing their roles and I (and many others) have had enough of clueless CoD kids coming on, stealing important roles from people who do know how to play and losing for us, because they don't know what they're doing. And in my experience, they always refuse to listen to their team members when we ask for them to call in arty, or recon, or use force respawn or switch to a different role.

Play your role properly, or don't play an important role. Please.

What? is there a free weekend or something?

Don't encourage Marksman to bugger off on their own to hide in some pointless location and pretend and fail to be another Vassily Zaitsev.. It's a complete waste of a class when some runs off to the same couple of locations and then ratchets up 3 kills over a match...

Though I love Pavlov's house a lot, the marksmen on it nearly always provide no help, and hide on the roof of Dom Pavlova, on top of Voyentorg, and in the same side streets on the far side of 9th January Square. And achieve nothing!

I did say pick off priority targets. But this is beside the point.

One of the main reasons for this is the fact that only a squad leader or TL can have a katana or thompson, which attracts a lot of players to those roles, not much you can do about it.

It is besides the point, because the main issue is that they really shouldn't be buggering off on their lonesome. And of course, a lot of them struggle to pick off even non-'priority targets'.

New players take commander position.

This pisses me off to no end, kind of like someone putting a ding on your car. The worst part is when multiple people tell them their terrible, and they refuse to GTFO the role.

Yeah, one of the squad leaders simply banzai charged with a catana in a match

Hmmm, i completely agree...and just to point out, you forgot tank commanders, sometimes its the tank that will win it if all else fails.
HandsomeJack762 10 sep, 2013 @ 18:45
Why lock the tanks?

Generally speaking, in order to open dialogue with a new player or players - you try to help them and show them the ropes. You will find that garnering people’s attention with calling them "idiots" has an extremely high failure rate.

Perhaps if a person takes the role, offer some help as to what they must do, as well as how to achieve that. Obviously some people will not listen due to language barriers, or maturity levels.

Just got fresh out of a Bridges game. We crushed the German team.

I was commander, and was blessed with a good tanker (Russian that periodically screamed in his native tongue, couldn't understand him so we just figured out what he needed; was pretty funny, but managed to stack up 250 kills by the end of the match). This cannot be understated. Having a good commander and a tanker will win the match 70% of the time.

I addressed that twice by saying that they don't listen when their whole team is asking (through mic and chat) to call in arty/recon/force respawn. They ignore their whole team when asked to at least try or switch role. I am talking to the idiots, not new players who haven't learnt how to play yet. And as for new players, they shouldn't take important roles until they know how to play, they should play against bots or play the tutorials first.

agreed, last time a commander of mine didnt even call in a arty even when i told him to

It is frustrating as hell when a level 20 or below newbie sits on the marksman class game after game getting less than 20 kills on Bridges, his job is to kill important people, but when he struggles to get a single kill, it is very frustrating.

Most of the new players seem to flock into the Marksman class for some reason, same with other important roles.
