Don't feel offended but I traced some of your replies on these discussions. :)
If the Japanese could just have access to Alien technology, (Such as Death-Rays,) then I think it would make this game far more interesting, thus achieving more sales.
Though if this isn't within the realm of possibility, then I would normally agree with Ludi's idea of adding in the Type 4 rifle. The only problem with that is the fact they were only experimental and a mere 250 were made. This rifle was not put into service before the end of WW2. It would be an uncommon weapon and it would hold more trouble than it was worth. Though the Japanese do need more of an edge.
If anything needs balance changing, it's the map layouts and reinforcement counts that need to be tweaked in order to shift the balance properly. Also, I have my gripes about the flamethrower being too fast and being able to spin around like a windmill when firing.
The light artillery is deadly from long range and also does quite well, indoors for clearing rooms.
The BAR is and was a great gun. Powerful beacuse it's chambered in .30-06 and relatively low recoil because they were built very heavy. I think running speed with the bar should be reduced, because of it's weight, other than that, it is powerful but it's fairly realistic.
My only gripe with the flamethrower, is that you lose the ability to use your weapon at all, as soon as the fire gets you. I okay with dying but I think it's rather stupid when I pull the trigger as I get blasted with fire, and can't get my shot off. You should be able to at least spray from the hip, while on fire. There are so many times where i've had a flametrooper round a corner right in front of me and blasts me as I click my mouse, and the shot doesnt register, and I just get to run around defenceless until I burn to death.
The mortar is amazing. The bolt action rifles are amazing. The universal bayonettes are amazing. Who cares about the automatic fire? The Japanese shouldn't be standing back and shooting anyhow, their strength is in close combat. Machine guns and snipers should be taking out flamethrowers and groups of advancing Americans while the rest of the team sets up booby traps and ambushes.
On second thought, where's muh FG 42?
If anything, the Japanese have too much firepower.
As another poster said, they need to greatly nerf the number of SMG's the Japanese have. I suggested adding a flamethrower (type 100) for the japanese and tear gas grenades for the TL and engineer class.
The only maps I think that are inherently a little unbalanced are Hanto and Saipan and maybe Peleilu, which would be quickly solved by adding more defending reinforcements.
Just some things to show you1) us firepower-75% of japanese with bolt actions 2) banzai charge-easy counter with flamer or automatics3)flamer-nothing to counter4)traps good but mostly useless in attack also destroyable5)mortar one japanese pros but not enough to affect on disbalance.
P.S If you call it balance well worse for you then.
