U will die alot of times and propably do alot of teamkills in the beginning if u buy ro2 but that ok just write "sry" after u shot one of ur own ^^. And u dont have a crosshair in ro2, so most ppl would compare it to hardcore modes from other games, but i really dislike hardcore modes from other games because it feels like they arent meant to be played like that (bf all full of snipers.... and stuff like that). Thats said i really like that there is no crosshair in ro2 it feels good.
and i prefered bfbc2 over bf3 too. i loved bf1942, bf vietnam, bf2 and cs 1.6 +css ...
hope i could help
thanks for other comments esp loock.
edit: btw I'm not a 'COD kiddy', 38 year old CS 1.6 fan here. (and wolfenstein / doom2 etc)
A couple of months ago I picked it back up, determined to learn the ropes and actually get some kills to my name. I have not been sorry that I returned to it. Tactical, cover-based play is the name of the game. I find that the maneuvering, waiting, lining up shots, waiting... and then ruining somebody's day really is fun. If you do buy this game, expect that it will take you a while to learn it and try not to get frustrated. You will die... a lot. If you are playing a game on "realistic", which is what the vast majority of servers are running, you will be lucky to survive being shot even once. The good news is that the same applies to your enemies.
Enough rambling, I have a kid fighting for my attention right now. I agree with another post that recommended waiting for a free weekend, but I do play COD and BF games and I absolutely love this one. Food for thought, good luck.
By the way, nice screenname. So long and thanks for all the fish.
Man, buy it. I have the same background. Began with wolfenstein 3D, doom2 and Duke Nuke'm 3D (best was Shadow Warrior imo). Played so many and this is the most rewarding. It's nothing like hardcore COD. The maps are made for tactical maneuvres (especially the better custom ones). It has a steep learning curve and you'll gradually enjoy it more once your weapons and classes are leveled up. Voice chat is build in game and is often needed to plan an attack if you're in a good team ofc. Cheers
I checked during the weekend and it was on place 90 of the top 100 of most played games that day. Think 1200+ were playing, so it's absolutely not dead. Check this forum and see how many still post. It appears mostly europeans play the game. By the time Europe goes to sleep the number is significant lower. And if you live in Asia or Australia then you'll have to play with high ping on crowded servers. So no offense taken cause it's simply incorrect.
Oooh! Sticky bomb likey you!
is it safe to assume this game is like DoD (HL1)?
