Rising Storm/Red Orchestra 2 Multiplayer

Rising Storm/Red Orchestra 2 Multiplayer

Vezi statistici:
Should I buy?
Have heard some good things about this game.

I LOVE:
Battlefield Bad company 2. Have been playing this game since release with barely a break. Love the strategy and the teamwork that still combines well with a run 'n gun style. Still find this game as fun as when I frst started.

I HATED:
Battlefield 3. Thought this was going to be the next awesome thing after BC2, but just absolutely can't stand it. Can't put my finger on it, but think it's something to do with rewarding campers that makes playing this hell for me. I'm always totally annoyed after 15 minutes, something that never happens in BC2. totally NOT FUN.

I was bored by:
Black Ops 2. Thought it was fun on the first day. By the end of the week the tedium of the small maps, dying every 10 seconds made me put the game down and I haven't touched it since.

So basically i have been disappointed by every FPS release since BC2. For a gamer with my tastes, do you think RO2 could get me as excited as BC2 did?

If you love run-and-gun, and hate "campers," then this game is not for you.
I don't think you'll like it, wait for a free weekend and try it out.
(or just watch some gameplay on YT)
There is NO SUCH THING as campers in any BF game nor in RO2. "Bad Company" is NOT a battlefied game nor does it have any resmblence to one. They tacked on the BF name just to make sales. It is a console kiddy game. Hiding somewhere and ambushing newbs is a tactic that has been done in all battlefield games and RO2 if you can get away with it. "Camping" is a tag that comes from COD kiddys that get mad when they get ambushed and which is a joke. Ambushing the enemy is a MAJOR tactic in warfare and often the only tactic used by Gurilla fighters. If you like a game like BC2 where they dont even allow you to lay down and people cry about ambushers and call them "campers" then you will not like RO2. In RO2 you will get owned and fudge packed so bad your A-hole will swell up and will need crutchs to walk after playing the game. You will Quote "put the game down and I haven't touched it since". Battlefield 3 is a cake walk compared to RO2. Maybe you should leave RO2 to the men....
Actually I'm pretty sure "Camping" came from the early counterstrike days lol Ahh... memories.

haha you shouldn't compare BFBC2 with BF3 since its not a sequel.
RO 2 : there are campers too but its depend on the map. You can get easily killed by 1 bullet(not only at headshots) .That's why this game so realistic. From the teamwork : u can only take assist if u drive a tank.(thats much fun i swear ^^) Otherwise DO NOT play cod, waste of money !!!!!!!!!

Do you like tactical WW2 shooter? This is not a run and gun game like BF3 or CoD, so if you enjoy those type games then don't get RO2.

portal 2 is nice but i have spent more time in ro2, i really like most of the community... yes you dont get assist kills but its not really about the KD ratio in red orchestra, there isnt even deathcoutner at the scoreboard. And i dont get that feeling that ppl are camping in ro2. one thing that i really like is that there is only a limited number of snipers in every map.

U will die alot of times and propably do alot of teamkills in the beginning if u buy ro2 but that ok just write "sry" after u shot one of ur own ^^. And u dont have a crosshair in ro2, so most ppl would compare it to hardcore modes from other games, but i really dislike hardcore modes from other games because it feels like they arent meant to be played like that (bf all full of snipers.... and stuff like that). Thats said i really like that there is no crosshair in ro2 it feels good.

and i prefered bfbc2 over bf3 too. i loved bf1942, bf vietnam, bf2 and cs 1.6 +css ...

hope i could help

@cornholer. Don't think I implied i want to play a realistic war sim, just that I want to play a fun fps. Despite your rather ranty reply, it's clear you have a lot of passion for the game which is pretty cool to see and maybe I will take up the 'challenge' of enjoying RO2 and prove you wrong :P

thanks for other comments esp loock.

edit: btw I'm not a 'COD kiddy', 38 year old CS 1.6 fan here. (and wolfenstein / doom2 etc)

@JynnanTonix; I love this game and cannot seem to stop playing it nowadays. I initially bought it because I really enjoy the WWII era and playing a more realistic game really appealed to me. That being said, after I initally played it I put it down and didn't return for quite some time. It is very, very hard and has an extremely steep learning curve. I enjoy tactical play but, at first, I was frustrated by being steamrolled by veterans.

A couple of months ago I picked it back up, determined to learn the ropes and actually get some kills to my name. I have not been sorry that I returned to it. Tactical, cover-based play is the name of the game. I find that the maneuvering, waiting, lining up shots, waiting... and then ruining somebody's day really is fun. If you do buy this game, expect that it will take you a while to learn it and try not to get frustrated. You will die... a lot. If you are playing a game on "realistic", which is what the vast majority of servers are running, you will be lucky to survive being shot even once. The good news is that the same applies to your enemies.

Enough rambling, I have a kid fighting for my attention right now. I agree with another post that recommended waiting for a free weekend, but I do play COD and BF games and I absolutely love this one. Food for thought, good luck.

By the way, nice screenname. So long and thanks for all the fish.
I've been wondering the same thing but looking at the Steam stats it's not even on the list. So no offense to anyone that does play but I don't want to pay for a game that's practically dead.

It's not dead, there is still a bunch of people that still play it. You can get in a 64 player server easily.

Man, buy it. I have the same background. Began with wolfenstein 3D, doom2 and Duke Nuke'm 3D (best was Shadow Warrior imo). Played so many and this is the most rewarding. It's nothing like hardcore COD. The maps are made for tactical maneuvres (especially the better custom ones). It has a steep learning curve and you'll gradually enjoy it more once your weapons and classes are leveled up. Voice chat is build in game and is often needed to plan an attack if you're in a good team ofc. Cheers

I checked during the weekend and it was on place 90 of the top 100 of most played games that day. Think 1200+ were playing, so it's absolutely not dead. Check this forum and see how many still post. It appears mostly europeans play the game. By the time Europe goes to sleep the number is significant lower. And if you live in Asia or Australia then you'll have to play with high ping on crowded servers. So no offense taken cause it's simply incorrect.
