But i think i know what you mean... at release the game used serverside hitdetection but
in one of the first patches Tripwire integrated clientside hitdetection!!! So problem is solved ;D

Very few actual cheats in this game, your opinion is misinformed
I don't think it's cheaters I have times were hits just don't register it doesn't happen often but annoying when it does.
you(ping 100) shoot sends information to server
enemy(ping 40) shoot sends information to server
server decides you die because it's processed enemy's hit detection first and cancelled yours even though on your client side it looks like a hit. Unfortunally until we can get games to register at 0MS or as close too there will always be this little problem and some games are better at mitigating it than others but this comes down to proper clean coding.
The amount of cheaters in this game are very minor.
One well placed shot in the chest or head by any weapon in the game (including pistols) will kill. You can hit a target several times in the legs & arms with spray & pray PPSH yet he just needs to place one bullet in your chest or skull with his P38 and you're done.
Ahuh...yeah...assumption on your part. The last time this happened to me I was crouched, aiming down my sights at a guy who was running straight towards me from a couple of meters away. Entire clip into his upper body/head, apparently no damage taking and he was able to melee me to death.
Oh, and the situation I was in before that when I popped my head around corner, unloaded a clip into a guy literally right in front of me on the other side. No apparent damage taken, I start to go behind cover to reload and get killed by him.

My guess is that you were killed by bots. When only a few feet away, they will try and melee you rather than shoot.
You may also notice that they can seem to headshot you in a fraction of a second from turning towards you or appear to not have fully aimed at you before you died
This is because the bots are living directly on the server and thus, have a ping of zero. This means that due to your ping, he appears to be looking away from you, but to the bot, you're a fraction of a second (or more) behind in the information being displayed and due to ping and client side hit detection, etc. While he looks to be still lining up towards you, from his perspective, he already lined up, aimed and shot you before you even knew what happened.
Happens to me often.
If I didn't already know what to look for, I too would assume it was another player hacking.
In the server browser, double check the server you want to join and ensure it doesn't have bots enabled & are all human.... I bet you will notice an improvement in your experience.
The only cheaters in this game that arent gonna get banned is the bots.
