not enough banzai
its honestly very effective but almost never used at all in matches except during spawn to get back into the action :P. Just by myself i can usually take 2 guys before i die in buildings and on closer enemies. if groups charged, it would be even more effective (but no one ever does)

It is effective and under used.

When people start banzai charging go join in. The more that do it the better it is. You can take as many MG rounds that get fired at you and still be able to run.

Sadly some times you are going to be on teams that just don't want to do what it takes to win.

Bloody hell just played a custom map without flamethrowers on it. And the Japanese team coordinated banzai charges. Americans suck balls with that combination.

Agreed, sadly even on good servers with experienced teams it is remarkably difficult to convince Japanese teams to banzai :'(

I was playing as the yanks the other day and said we got them now, because of the open ground they had to cross. but then organised banzai with a squad leader leading the charge with a sword compleatly over ran our strong defensive line, at that moment i fully respect how effective it is under good communication. I felt how scary it must have been to allied soilders fighting the ♥♥♥♥ during the war.. much respect for both sides.

The 'banzai charge' is indeed a weapon in the Japanese arsenal. However, its rarely used correctly or effectively. Why? Most, if not all servers have pubbers that make up the majority of the players. That said, its extremely difficult to get an organized banzai charge.

To correctly use the banzai charge a team needs communication and coordination, two very critical elements that are almost foreign concepts in this community.

But, to be fair, i've been playing Red Orchestra since the very first day of retail, and we never had good communication or coordination in Ostfront either. I've played dozens of online fps in the past 17 years and this community has historically been one of the worst imo as far as communication goes. And I'm not trying to be negative or demeaning, but it is what it is unfortunately.

I must agree with the last post and it looks like a balance issue IMO.

Nope, just most who seem to play the 'mericans dont know how to communicate, In the same server I played as both teams:

As The Axis - Everyone were reporting enemies, squad leaders always talking to the commander and commander always using his radio and reported enemies he saw in the radio by recon plane and also motivate the players.

As The Alies - Commander was a guy with no mic, players were just rushing or thinking they can flank from the forest (which is where most ♥♥♥♥ go from) and the squad leaders took the role for the weapon and didnt do thier job

(IN THE SAME SERVER - many times the only reason they won was because they had Zyfer on thier team..)

its sad considering that the winning a battle in this game depends on how well the team works together.

when i said sad, i meant its sad that few players cooperate/communicates. I LOVE team based games, its disappointing when players dont use teamwork or even simple communication in these games.

what i do is getting drunk choose japanese and play commander (with massive mic using ) and well we win like evry campaign on japanese side . jsut try to be the one who explain the banzai mechanics to others , cause i believe most of the players dont really know about that as example a lot of ppl i met while my drunks ession dont know that banzai progs on u alone (not that good as with more men , but it works on ur alone / the speedbuff and the dmgicantake buff)

We won the ♥♥♥ campaign by just banzai charging all the time. We would scream it over public chat for maximum morale penalty. I got my katana from level 3 to 27 during one campaign.
