An idea for RO3
Since we had RS and RS2 in Asia, and the RO series on the Eastern Front in Europe, I would suggest that RO3 stick to the trend and do the Battle of Berlin.

Why the Battle of Berlin? Because it is a very large urban area like Stalingrad, and thus the playstyles will be somewhat similar.

Sides: German Wehrmacht/Volksturm(similar to the NVA and VC weapons being different)
Red Army/NKVD division(both being similar, except the leader of an NKVD division is a commisionar and has special abilities instead of artillery.)

4 snipers(Level 1: Kar98K scoped, Level 75: G43 Scoped, 1 pistol)

2 AT:(Level 1: Panzershreck and pistol, Level 50: Panzershreck and Kar98K, Level 100 Panzershreck and MP40. 2 AT grenades)

4 MG(Level 1: MG34 and pistol, Level 75: MG42 and pistol, Level 100: MG42/MG34 and Kar 98K

3 squad leaders(Level 1: Kar 98K and pistol, Level 10: Binocs and pistol, Level 60: Binocs and Kar98k, Level 75: Binocs and G43, Level 100:Binocs and StG44)

1 commander(same as squad leader, except the first loadout is binocs and pistol).

Everybody can choose 1 piece of equipment(Panzerfaust, smoke grenade, entrenching tool)

Volksturm:

20 riflemen(Level 1: G98, Level 75 Kar98K, Level 100: MP40)

4 AT(Level 1: Panzerfuast, Level 50: Panzerfaust and G98, Level 100: Panzerfaust and Kar98K)

4 MG(Level 1: Kar98K, Level 50: MG34, Level 100: MG34 and Kar98K)

3 squad leaders(Level 1: Pistol, Level 10: Pistol and binocs, Level 50: Kar98K and binocs)

Team leader(same as Squad leaders)

All classes get to choose 1 grenade

Red Army/NKVD:

18 riflemen(Level 1: Mosin/PPSH 41, Level 40: SVT40, 1 grenade)

6 snipers(Level 1: Mosin scoped, Level 50: SVT40 scoped)

4 engineers(Level 1: PPSH 41, 2 charges or 4 grenades/Flamethrower and pistol)

2 MG(Level 1: DP28 and pistol, Level 50: DP28 and Mosin/PPSH 41)

3 squad leaders(Level 1: PPSH 41/Mosin, Level 30: SVT 40, 1 smoke grenade)

1 commander(same as squad leaders)

All troops can choose 1(grenade, AT grenade)

Call ins:

Red Army:
Mortars/Artillery/ Rockets, each with their own cool downs.

IL-2 Sturmovik(flies over the battlefield until ammunition is used up, attacks any vehicles or enemy infantry seen moving or standing up with rockets and 20mm cannon fire)

PE-2(flies over and drops its bombs in a line on the designated area)

Fighters(shoots down any German aircraft)

NKVD:
Force spawn(all players spawn on the team leaders current location after 10 seconds, no reinforcements used or deaths of players)

Penal unit(for 5 minutes, any deaths do not reduce the amount of reinforcement points)

German Army:
Mixed artillery(random chance of mortars, artillery or rockets)

Mixed aircraft(random chance of Stukas(drops 3 bombs on the first enemy infantry seen moving or standing, or a vehicle), HS 129(Attacks vehicles with AT cannon in the nose, stays until ammunition is used up), ME 109(attacks enemy planes), FW 190(attacks enemy planes, then bombs and strafes ground troops) or ME 262(Jet fighter, zooms over the map, attacks enemy planes, then escapes).

Mixed AA Battery(random chance of light 20mm AA, medium 37mm AA and heavy Flak 36 88mm AA)

Volksturm:

Force spawn(all players spawn on the team leader after 10 seconds, no deaths of players)

Home Guard(For 10 minutes, any deaths do not reduce the reinforcement points)

Tanks can be spawned if a player chooses a tanker class.

There can be 3 medium or 2 heavy tanks at any one time. If a tank is destroyed, another can spawn.

Mediums: T-34-85, SU-122, Mark IV H, Mark IV G

Heavies: ISU-152, IS-2, Tiger, Panther

Note*: the ISU-152 and SU-122 have massive HE shells that can easily kill entire squads of Germans caught in the open, but are not as good at killing German tanks, and have a much lower chance of penetrating them. However, there is a 50% chance of killing the crew with a direct hit, through concussion and spalling.

Players in tanks do not count toward the limit of players in the match, but towards a limit on the number of tanks available. 1 or more players can crew each tank, but even if there is only 1 player, the tanks AI crew will automatically fire Machine Guns and the main gun at any spotted enemy.

The main game mode would be like supremacy, except the winner must capture all the zones to win. There would be a 75-25 chance of Volksturm to German Army in any one match, and a 75-25 chance of Red Army to NKVD in a match. That way, players, even if they specialise in 1 side, would still have to learn more than 1 faction.

Tripwire is currently too focused on Zombie killing fest game "Killing Floor 2".


The late battles of WW2 is certainly a good idea. But we dont know if they have plans for RO3.

Adding NKVD/Penal battalions is just asking for people like that "3.14"s guy who already tk's enough, to do it and get away with it. Other than the fact that you're talking late war, where the NKVD wasn't really needed.

As for your last recommendations..
This is an FPS, the moment this game adds a Tiger, this whole forum will be bloated with posts of people complaining why they were destroyed in a Tiger, leave War Thunder to War Thunder.
Rather than tanks, why can't we be the mortars like the good ole Delta Force days where people would mark targets and people would use a mortar to drop on said target?


Sadly, aboslutely none of this will ever happen.

Tripwire did not make RS2, Antimatter games did. They just published it.

Why? Because RO is set as a Soviets vs Germans game. They can move to the West, but if they do, it should get a new name. Personally, I find that while the East Front is very interesting, the best period to model is 1944-1945, when the Soviet Army had reached and in some ways surpassed the technological and tactical advantage the Germans held from 1941 to 1943. However, a Kursk expansion could work, with much much larger maps, and with the Germans having to attack line after line of entrenched Soviets, with maybe a random chance of their tanks they can spawn being either 5 Tigers/Panthers or 10 Mark IVs/Stugs, against loads of Soviets, dug in with loads of AT guns and MGs, as well as a large amount of AT mines and AT grenades, with Soviet tank reserves dug in in tank emplacements or as mobile reserves.

Anyway, if they want a game in the West, Late War Germany is the best place to put it, or the war on the Italian Front. As to the Tigers, they should be added so we can laugh at the butthurt noobs who do not understand that by 1944-1945, the Tiger was easily destroyed by most Soviet and some Allied tanks(IS-2, ISU-152, Firefly).
