Joker's Party Titan fight help

I'm on the fight with the two Titan's and I keep dying because when the Titans are ready to take down or ride it won't always do it. The default control to combat take down for me is shift+right click even though ctrl+right click is the one that does it for me and when I go over to one with the stars over his head and do ctrl+right click or shift+right click it does nothing but try to counter (with no one to counter). It sometimes works but when it counts and the Titan has no health left it doesn't and I end up dying trying to do it.

Only regular punches work with Titans.

Thank you I've finally completed the game thanks to your help! I always thought you had to do a take down on them so I guess I missed the bit where it says how to properly take them down or it didn't say.
