Unable to throw?
So one of the first upgrade I unlocked was the ability to throw by SHIFT + LMB, but doesn't matter what I do, I can't seem to throw the thugs?

Am I missing something?

1) Do I need to press SHIFT and click LMB at the exact same time to do this? Or can I HOLD the SHIFT key all the time and just click LMB to acvitae the throw?

2) The game suggests the throw can be done after I perform a Combo Score of X8. Does this mean I need to hit X8 before I could activate the throw??? So I can't just throw a thug at any time???

3) Do I accumuate Combo Score by smoothly carry out the attack flow (ie counter when needed, and not get hit)? Or is are there fast, fancier way of increasing the score?

Any help would be appreciated.

yes, you need to score x8 first

Thanks for the confirmation.

How do I quickly score X8? I seem to manage just fine with ATTACK + COUNTER. But I never seem to get as high as X8. Do I need to include Ground Takedown, too?

I guess you fight one thug at a time, no? You can land a single blow on one enemy and then switch to another. So, usually you'll be running in circles between them, striking each before he'll be up again. It's not a problem to gain x8 that way if there's enough thugs of course. Counter, in my experience, is for tough situations when there are too many enemies.

I'm almost alway fighting 2-5 or even more thugs at a time (at least in earlier stage of the game, thugs often appear in groups of 2-5, no?)

So what you are saying, is I should punch 1 thug, then move onto punching a 2nd thug (without continuing to punch the 1st thug), then 3rd, then 4th, until I score X8, THEN start throwing or going back finish the 1st thug?

Ugh. That's not intuitive and borderline retarded, don't you think? Why would a player want to do that? Just to crank up the score?

IF the above is in fact how one would score high, then I think Assasin's Creed has a far better combat system then (at last in AC II, AC B and AC R).

ok, main point is - you mustn't stop combo until there is someone to beat up. Circling between them is just a good tactic to end fight fast, sorry if it confused you.
It also can be difficulty level which is important. Because enemies will take more on hard, as the result even 4 thugs'll allow you to score enough.
Anyway the best way to practice throwing and combat at all is challange maps. Try it, get good timing with strikes and counters and everything will be fine:happymeat:

Yeah, so my (only?) Challenge map is the intense treatment unit (the very starting area of the game) where I fight some 4 waves of enemy.

I have the GOTY edition. I wonder if I missing any maps or?

they're unlocked during your progressing with riddler's secrets in story, as I recall

Oh that makes a lot of sense. Yeah I'm 15% into the game. Thanks!
