How am I supposed to learn to play if trial mechs are ridiculous garbage?
I've tried several trial mechs and they are all ridiculous unviable garbage. Let's take trial Trebuchet. I wanted to try LRM's, so it's the only one of trial mechs that has them. The issue is that I get my engine one shot in 90% of fights and in 100% of fights it's 2 or 3 shot. Now, how I'm supposed to learn to use the mech if the loadout is a ridiculous crap. Everyone just says "Put more armor" or "don't use XL engine". But it's trial mech. I can't change it. Nearly in 4 battles in a row I was one shot. Probably the guy who designed trial mechs configs has less experience with the game than me with my 12 battles.

You're using LRM's. That's the only issue.

It's pay to win game.

First of all, Use wisely your 15mil CB free reward from Tutorial & First 25 times random match.
Get one of 'Fine' non-trial mech in your style, Not trash one.
Grind Grind Grind... Get 2 more variants of it for Elite & Master skill unlock. Plus...

1. 12% weapon cooldown / 10% range module
2. Semi maphack Seismic sensor module
3. Radar Deprivation for instant vanish once out of enemy's sight

Pay for instant toybox setup & stomping / Grind for it as free player.
If You're good player who can enter Tier 3-4 in 30days It's hard to do as free player.

It's up to you.

The typical hollyburst post:

<insult>

<half-intelligent or zero intelligent core>

<insult>

And radar dep, despite being useful, can be effectively done by... playing smart. Oh my. See folks vanish off radar anyways once they move out of sight and aren't being targeted. Otherwise? slightly longer time before drop off radar. Either way you end up off radar.

Seismic Sensor is partially true to the mechwarrior roots because every mechwarrior game has had more advanced radar systems. It's cancer for light mechs or any mech that depends on manouverability. It is very good however for slower mechs/practically essential for fat mechs at the higher end.

Thanks for the help, but the game is not for me. Playing 15-16 games for 3 wins is anything but fun. I have a feeling that no matter what you do, the game will screw you up and you'll lose. You can do 100 dmg, or 400 dmg, doesn't matter, there's only one outcome - defeat. Funny how my pilot rating is always going down, like the game had some mastery expectations because I've played in Beta 2 years ago. That's exactly why I'v stopped playing in Beta - never ending losing streaks.

Game brings nothing but anger and frustration, and that's not how I intend to spend my free time.

100 damage is a pretty bad score and 400 is around average. Your per goes down because you are losing and not ready for more experienced players. Your first matches can be very difficult and it's recommended to see tutorial videos and group up for help if you are having trouble on your own. The learning curve is steep.

But if you don't have the time that's alright too.

I know, learning's a ♥♥♥♥♥.

Good luck finding a game....

There is absolutely no way that is possible. In every match, half the players will win and only half will lose.

Damage is secondary to working as a team.

PSR is initially seeded off of your stats since January of 2015. So, you were seeded the same place all new players were. The problem is that you joined at a time when there were not loads of other new players for you to be matched with/against. So, you got pulled up into matches with people who've been playing for a few weeks or months. Makes a pretty big difference.

That's exactly why I'v stopped playing in Beta - never ending losing streaks.

Never ending? The only factor that is consistent in that type of streak is you.

Game brings nothing but anger and frustration, and that's not how I intend to spend my free time.

Yeah, lots of players today don't like challenges. This game doesn't sound like it is for you.

You're probably in Tier V.

Get a headset if you don't have one yet, and start coordinating with your team. Coordinating your team if nobody else has a clue. A semi-coherent PUG will defeat a disorganized one most of the time, something as simple as keeping your teammates informed of enemy mechs you've spotted and focusing your fire on single targets will go a long way.

You can do 100 dmg, or 400 dmg, doesn't matter, there's only one outcome - defeat.
You're fixating on damage as a defining indicator of your performance... it's not.
The only game mode where it counts for much is Skirmish. Conquest, Assault and Domination have specific victory conditions that can be fulfilled by a single remaining mech on a team. This also means you can lose a match to a single remaining mech on the enemy side if your team doesn't know what it's doing.

Something to note: your match score (and pilot rating) increases when you're taking actions relevant to the game mode you're playing.

Then you're doing something wrong.

Do you just alphastrike till overheating, or do you fire specific weapon group as suitable? Do you overheat much? Do you pay attention to weapon ranges (maximum / optimal)?

How fast are you dying in a match? Do you stop to shoot, or are you moving all the time when firing? Do you know what rolling damage is? Are you familiar with the armor status indicator? Do you lock your targets?

Are you running a custom mech right now? If so, what's the chassis you're using and what's your current loadout?

Interesting how bad most newcomers ( and overall players ) are despite it's so easy to play. People can barely shoot and stand still. Why doesn't this happen so often in any classic FPS with much more dynamics and aiming skills required.
I can even remember myself doing that bad when i started playing... though i had 20 FPS back then and never was an FPS player, there was still something besides that. Still have no clue what this thing is.

Perhaps they're trying to play with gamepads?

Lack of developed game reflexes on an engine which requires some getting used to. Mechanics have zero forgiveness, you die - you die. Something gets blown off? Goodbye. Decent players will spot a noob and eat that noob alive because they have developed the right skillset for the game. I think it just takes getting used to more than most games.

Coming from a guy who had spent many, many years on MechWarrior 4, 3, 2 and dabbled in MechCommander, I started dinky and remember trying a "flank" with a weird mouse sensitivity and my first experiences of particularly bad netcode. Result: Wiepout by PPC. I still remember the line of zeros from that one as the mech went by ^.^

go to the offi site.. check the section where units offering spots.. join a squad.. be happy.

if you play with new people.. and you are on teamspeak / vent with them.. and you hear them say for the 4th time ( when they are dead ) "oh that was a mistake".. look for other people to play with.

everything else is bs
