Maze Mice is GOTY, no I will not be taking further questions. Play this excellent blend of Pac-Man, Snake and Vampire Survivors, with its own unique flavor thrown in today, and don't miss the Luck Be A Landlord references!

I am enjoying this game so far. It's a weird combination of pac-man and roguelike.

Having said that, I really think it needs some adjustments to hold my interest over longer periods of time. I really can't see myself putting a hundred hours into this game like luck be a landlord. Particularly I want access to newer maps or enemies sooner. So far I have won every single round off of popcorn + rejuv + any weapon combination. Healing seems to fundamental to skip out on.

Most of the weapons have little to no actual strategy besides what you pick, There are long cooldowns on some things to make you use them tactically, but the issue is that in order to use them efficiently you would need to take a hit, which is basically never worth it. As a result the strategy always boils down to never backtrack so the cats can't reach you, and always loop the center so the ghosts never leave it.

On the heels of the foundational roguelike Luck be a Landlord, Maze Mice has all the makings of another game that will grab your mind, heart and the whole of your focus with both paws and not let go until you look up, eyes wide, brain buzzing, a slack-jawed grin playing on your lips, and its suddenly hours and hours later. TrampolineTales brilliantly combines the best kinds of adrenaline- and dopamine-slathered moment-to-moment tactical decisions, build choices, figuring out how to recover from mistakes and delicious, delicious power-snowballing in all the influences other reviews here have mentioned (Pac-Man, Vampire Survivors, Superhot, etc), and combines it all into something wholly new, thrilling, and deeply satisfying

There are, as of the time I'm writing this review (the first EA release version), some areas where I expect the game will grow over the course of Early Access; better communication to the player of what you're aiming to unlock in each run beyond the sparsely-explained XP bar, a record of what we've unlocked so far, some kind of overarching "chase" beyond XP (perhaps similar to the increasingly difficult tiers in LbaL), so on and so forth.

What you should take away from this review, though, is that the design of this game, the heart of it, is so blindingly good, so ingeniously well crafted, that the only improvements I could possibly think of are all external, architectural things, stuff and systems surrounding a game that is, at its core, one of the most fun games I've ever played in my life.

And damn, that OST. The music here, folks. 10000000/10. Woof.
