Delete local content or delete the game from your library? If you meant the first, I believe the game can still be reinstalled =)

I know this is super-late, but as long as you have a game in your Library, you can always reinstall it again later, even if STEAM no longer sells the game. You can also buy a game as a gift before STEAM drops it, and give the gift and have the game still be installable any time after STEAM no longer sells it.
