Im having the exact same problem.

i looked on ubisoft support and all it says is that we must have another account and for us to login to that one.

Me personally only has the one account so that support they are giving us is wrong and its another issue altogether.

Me too!

I don't think Valve have anything to do with that. Its Ubisoft. Goodluck!

You have to go ♥♥♥♥♥ to Ubisoft and their terrible customer service. However, after enough ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, the problem was solved on my end. Be sure to supply your CD key.

How..why... TE what makes you think that Valve (the guys behind steam who only sell stuff in the name of others) has anything to do with uplay (the origin-version of ubisoft...the actual sellers of the game). What kind of strange brainactivity leads to that conclusion?!

Absolutely horrible port. Game doesn't work for me.

Ubisoft is doing it very badly at least with this game. I can remember so many things....

- it started having DRM (which owners of piracy copies easily avoided)
- I reinstalled the game after a year and I find long unuseful updates and too many advertising while the ony thing I want is to play.
- I can't remember my account so I make another one, asks me for the CD key again, I type it but tells me that's another account's, OK, I understand it.
- I look and find my old account in my mail, do the same but KEEPS ME TELLING THE SAME
- tech support page more or less explains WHAT TO DO BUT NO WHERE TO DO IT (I need the URL where I have to write them my CD key)
- Now feeling annoyed, badly treated and impotent (even starting to think things like Uplay increase piracy probability...)

Ubisoft, it's true you make good games but fails and misses like this makes customers feel too far away. You don't even provide a place to directly email any of your support profesionals.

Remember WE are the ones who have PAID for the game, so we are not the ones who have to work for you (WHY DO WE HAVE TO INSERT THE CD KEY AGAIN!!!??), it should be the other way around!

I just installed From Dust a long while after buying it, only to find I am given the UPlay login screen instead of my game. Now I remember why I avoid Ubisoft games like the plague :)
I have asked Steam support to permanently remove this game from my list, I'll post again if they do help with that.

i enyojed this game a lot, but that activation key not working, and my game also not, makes me hate ubisoft even more than i already hated them, they have to make awesome games bad/not working... al because of a second, pointless, DRM.

I totally missed out on the fact that this game comes with Uplay. I have to be more careful when deciding to by a game, and I totally agree with Fred that Uplay is absolute crap (and so is any other /in game/game add on/ licence/”community” login feature I can think of, e.g. Microsofts and Rock Stars pathetic attempts). Actually, it’s the single only reason why I never finished Splinter Cell: Conviction, I simply could not stand the constant hassle with Uplay (I guess this is another game I will not bother to finish). And surely Valve should have their share of the critique; they are after all responsible for the content they are selling and distributing; under terms which are regulated in the contract between Valve and their counterpart (e.g. Ubisoft).

To Valve: Why not make a poll on Steam just to see how popular (or not) these “features” are?

I feel this from the bottom of my heart: F*CK adding layers of DRM together. Isn't Steam enough, guys? This UPlay window coming up asking me to create an UbiSoft account to play a game I just purchased on Steam is a layer of obstruction to gameplay that nobody wants or needs. I cannot think of something mean enough to say to the idiots at UbiSoft who thought up this `ownership confirmation` method. I payed for the game, let me play it without your ♥♥♥♥.

To Valve: Where's that Poll that Irene Panik is talking about already? This is a practice I'd like to see voted off the island for sure.

Also, where can I find the `Refund, Dislike, Disrespect and Vomit Blood in Rage at UbiSoft` button here? Thanks for helping me start 2013 feeling like this, UbiSoft: http://i.imgur.com/gpy3W.jpg
