I get about 70% on Avg with a R5 1600 but it plays. Not sure why

100% usage, but it doesn't stress the processor as if it is 100% "load". R7 1700, and temps don't break 40c. Compare with something like Cinebench and it'll be closer to 55-60c. A variety of games do this; it's just an artifact of the era. It won't hurt anything.

True it seems it doesnt offload to the GPU. But I agree. it plays fine.

I'm getting over 90°C on a MSI Apache Pro laptop... Even when playing Far Cry 5 I barely reach 80°C. I'm honestly getting concerned about this when I'm playing War in the North :/.

Any idea why is this game making my CPU overheat ?

Horrible optimization on an old engine - you can try changing the amount of cores the program uses in task manager -> details -> right click witn.exe -> set affinity. Keep cores 1-4 checked but uncheck others and check your FPS.
yes, btw this game runs just the same with a Intel Integrated graphics on my laptop and with a Titan XP on my desktop

[SOLVED]
This is a game engine bug.
Game run smoother but with 100% usage in any CPU.

Solved this old problem running the game with "SandBoxie".

This program (Sandboxie) will run the game under a instance box, then the resources will be controled.

After this, the game runs totally fine at 10%-13% CPU usage.

>>> Open the software, configure a new (or just use the Default one) Sandbox then:
1- Right Click>Run> Run Program> Browse...> Find the witn.exe on installation folder.

2- Game need to be Forced or will not run further:
Right Click> Sandbox Options>Forced Programs>Force Program>Choose witn.exe

Plus: Once forced, the instance will be created even if you run the game directly from Shortcut. So, you dont need to open the Sandboxie interface

NOTE: The 2° step need the first step did at least one time or the .exe will not be shown and Sandboxie services must be running on Windows, but this will be offered during the installation process.

So do you simply download the program at https://sandboxie-plus.com/downloads/ and then do what you suggested, or is there a different download that we should use?

After testing the game on an old Pc today I am 90% sure that the game is somewhat incompatible with DDR4 Memory and therfor creates lots of errors in the background that the cpu has to deal with and because of that it utilizes that much and makes the game lag.
