What system expansions and fundamental differences does this have from the "Welcome to the Game" series?

To be clear I'm not at all trying to call this a rip-off or anything similar. There's plenty of room for expansion in this sub-genre. However, given that WttG is the popularizer/founder of the sub-genre I'm interested to hear —especially from the dev's themselves, if they're willing to respond— what gameplay loops and systems from WttG got expanded and/or changed to make this game a unique experience?...
