Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm

Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm

READ THIS: ONLINE-PLAY
A really useful video from Juicebox that you SHOULD watch:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOTaTpHOCJI
At least skip to the part mentioned with annotation.

And if you can't:

-During character select screen, pressing O and P on your keyboard will adjust the delay of the online match you're currenlty in. ALWAYS adjust this enough so you can see that the character select is running smoothly. This ensures that the match will run smoothly as well, of course! The number is shared for both players, so don't worry about your opponent not doing the same.

-Open your ports 50055-50057 UDP from your router settings, and/or from your windows/firewall if needed.
This shouldn't be hard in this time and age, but if you need help, google it.

The only annoying thing is that you need to set the delay every game. If you forget then you're ♥♥♥♥♥♥ for the rest of the match

They should add an option to "auto set delay" if such a thing is possible.

you can set the delay automatically in the launcher and it will default that to set it every match. (7:41 in the vid)

An alternative to going into your router settings to set your ports, you could use option 2 in this thread.

Do people really find pressing O and P to set delay pretty much once per opp that strenous? You're playing a fighting game, not pong.

The game does not inform you of being able to adjust the delay in character select, nor about the keys O and P.
For an important feature like this, I think it's a huge mistake. Auto-setting the delay based on ping shouldn't be a big change anyways, if the players aren't manually controlling it.
Really confused about why this wasn't implemented properly for the release. Maybe GGPO is coming faster than we thought? The original indiegogo says that it could just be a matter of days.

Perfectly possible. The question is: will they even support/update the game after it comes out?

It's useful that Juicebox did that, but that's hardly the point. They promised GGPO over and over again, and took people's Kickstarter money for a project that was advertised as having GGPO integration. They haven't even come close.

For me, ports are all opened, and only Ranked match works. Have been completely unable to join any other lobbies, public or with friends. At one point it was suggested to download some extra program to set my language to Japanese. No thanks, they can deliver on their promise for GGPO or I'll just move along and consider it 15 bucks down the drain.

Ah, cheers for this. It was quite annoying doing it manually every game. I'm surprised it isn't in the in-game settings considering how many options there are.

I hope the GGPO implementation removes the need for port forwarding. I port forwarded mine but not everyone has access to their router and port forwarding not working may have a hidden issue. I know for years I couldn't figure out why my ports weren't opened despite following the instructions to a T. I then realized my antivirus software blocks opened ports by default and you need to manually set it to allow, lol.

Please read the indiegogo again.

"Please note: we have not fully tested GGPO yet, so it’s possible we may encounter technical problems that will delay the release of the game. If it looks like there will be significant delay, we will release the game first without GGPO and then add it as soon as the implementation is completed (it may be as soon as a few days.)"

GGPO was a stretch goal. It was pretty much guaranteed the moment it reached the tier. It isn't a matter of if GGPO is coming, it's a matter of when. There could be many reasons why joining lobbies don't work for you. You could be giving your friends your internal IP instead of your external. Maybe they're pressing public instead of private lobby join. The game works fine if you do it right honestly.

Been watching Mando play Yata for a awhile now. The netcode seems good even without GGPO.

I'm guessing you never actually follow the news on their own website?
Because if you did you would know the situation with GGPO and that it is actually coming.
Also only being able to play ranked doesn't make any sense, you must have something set wrong. lol

From the original Kickstarter (actually indiegogo) project:
"Please note: we have not fully tested GGPO yet, so it’s possible we may encounter technical problems that will delay the release of the game. Even without GGPO the online has worked fine for me. Way better than MKX or USFIV already

...and they found that the engine they used to build yata didn't support savestates

Didn't they make the engine from scratch though?
I think that not supporting savestates shouldn't be a problem for GGPO.
Well, maybe for GGPO, but for a rollback netcode very similiar to GGPO, it could be implemented in different ways too

Probably but they've been working on the game since 2008 or something. Long before the crowd funding. Hopefully they looked into the basic requirements for GGPO to function before opting to list it as a stretch goal.

I just hope it doesn't hurt the netplay performance because it's one of the best out there as is. Generally much better than most GGPO matches I've played.
