Sorta. In that game you have persistant characters who level up and get better equipment. In this game you get disposable minions who die at the drop of a hat and get replaced. They are both tactical strategy games, but one is more a band of heroes model where this one is a epic battle of attrition. Don't get too attached to any of your units.
