Echelon Wind Warriors Fixer app
I decided to make an application that fixes misconfigurations related to this game.

It follows what is written in this guide:
http://steamcommunity.com/app/311100/discussions/0/619568793991749277/

You can set a custom resolution and refresh rate.
UI will be adjusted to work with your resolution's aspect ratio.
This app also fixes autopilot not working.
I suggest grabbing the original texture files too.

Tested on Windows 10 64bit, Win 7 32bit, so most usage cases should be covered.
Game runs on 60 fps, even without that low framerate fix from pcgamingwiki :3

If you find any issues with the app please post in this thread (include version number of the fixer app).

Download link: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AtBOMOyg9qLUyEgvGeJj_9UdsfAk

English version on Steam comes with community textures for ships, which can be replaced with original textures from the following link.

Source link: https://1drv.ms/f/s!AtBOMOyg9qLUySDKaFig28sCTpwi

Requires .NET Framework 4

The application will write into the following locations:

In the registry:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Madia\... (no WOW6432Node if 32bit)
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers

On the disk:
- pathToGame\
- pathToGame\Profiles (common* files will be overwritten)

This app will require admin privileges, and will set Game.exe to run as admin too.

Edit: Updated the app to fix a bug with locales, that messed up the generated configuration files.

What exactly are those "Original Textures"? Thank You.

English version of EchelonWW on Steam has community skins for the ships, whereas the Russian version does not. For example one of the interceptors has Red Bull livery, and the stealth ship looks like a pizza.

Thank You, RXDimA
P.S.: just for, i dunno, reference, or just me being proud - I have original "Echelon" russian version ("Shtorm"), cardboard boxed, with printed map and stuff. Bought it as soon as it became available back then :)

This was the only way I had to run the game with win 8.1 64bit. Bless you man!

The game runs all right with this fix, but the UI is skewed downwards quite a bit. Makes targeting enemies difficult. Also some UI elements overlap.
RXDimA Jul 20, 2018 @ 8:52am
What resolution are you using? I'll take a look into it.
Assault Unicorn Jul 20, 2018 @ 8:58am
1920x1080. This only happens on the English version, Russian version works just fine.

Something strange is going on, most likely one of the new Win10 updates changed something about the registry (but that's a guess), since the game won't accept changes done by the fixer app anymore. Looking into it.

The dropbox file originally set up to fix the gamelauncher.bat issues is no longer there, and neither is the app file on OneDrive (Perhaps because of the problem RXDimA noted above on Aug. 12.) In any event I'm stuck with a game that won't run until something gets fixed. Win 10 64 bit. Thanks to anyone who can make this thing work. :)

Terminator54, the app is still on OneDrive, and it still works on my PC so it is worth a try. At the very least, it will generate some necessary files to enable autopilot functionality, but you will have to edit the registry yourself for the correct resolution.

Next version will come with a new feature that checks currently set registry values, this way you will know whether your custom settings are still in effect or not.

I suspect that the problem Texhnophille has, is that in the registry the settings didn't save, but the UI files are set for another resolution, causing the distortion.

Edit: The app seems to work just fine.
